I agree with the comments on "The Dark Knight." I thought it was a clever setting for exploring the subject of terrorism and the limits (real and ideological) of people in power. It was a bit heavy-handed at time (the scene between Bale and Freeman in the room of video screens), but effectively done though. Nolan's last two Batflicks had a sort of political commentary, and that might be why "Begins" stands above its sequels in my eyes.
One I haven't seen mentioned is "The Big Short." Overall I enjoyed it, but it seemed like a sort of antithetical counterpart to something like "Wall Street" or "Wolf of Wall Street." It took the glossy veneer away from financiers and brokers and reflected it more from the perspective of people who were getting screwed. I'm not the type to believe that everyone in finance is evil, but I thought it was perhaps a more honest look at the ramifications of real-life Gordon Gekkos.
(I don't work in finance, so my take on this movie could be mistaken)
