What did he say in the tweets?

What did he say in the tweets? Just like Milo Yianopolus, he said he was homosexually molested as a child in boarding school and it wasn't a big deal.

Wild. Apparently, even Berkeley has a few standards, yes?

Looks like Berkley is finally catching up to the general consensus on Dawkins.

Assuming Dawkins' open letter is authentic: He has a point. I didn't find anything to disagree with in it.

"KPFA emphatically supports serious free speech"
No they don't. "Free speech" means nothing if we prohibit or effectively squelch speech that makes people uncomfortable, upset, offended, etc. "We only allow speech that everyone is comfortable with" isn't at all "free speech." The whole point of free speech is to protect persons' ability to say things that other people won't like. There's no need to protect persons' ability to say things that everyone is happy with. That needs no protection.

When you baldly state 'Berkeley' I had assumed the university at California.. Dawkins being refused a place to speak by a church, as I read it, or at least from an off-campus event, is not exactly jaw-dropping news.

KPFA was being utterly ridiculous in de-platforming Dawkins, despite Dawkins being an ass when it comes to Islam.
However, no one should be fooling themselves into thinking his free speech rights are being infringed upon. Freedom of speech does not mean that organizations have any sort of obligation to let you speak at events they host. Dawkins gets to publish his best selling books and speak at all kinds of events in addition to having a Twitter account. His speech is getting out just fine.

I still can't understand why you guys mock, ridicule, and insult people who believe in God, and yet you make a notable exception for Islam. It doesn't add up, and it hasn't been explained. Try arguing against the existence of God in Saudi Arabia and see what happens to you next. Seriously. Try it.

I don't make exceptions for Islam. Dawkins is just an ass about Islam in ways he isn't about Christianity. Both religions are absurd and vile. But in the West, particularly in America, it is the Christians who are the most vocal and effective at eroding democracy. Muslims aren't doing squat over here. The only ones who have genuine power in the government are liberals and progressives who would be in jail for their beliefs if they were living in the Middle East.

Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak without fear of punishment, it's not a right to be invited to give your two cents.

Dawkins is a well educated liberal scholar, this is rather ridiculous. At least with the Ann Coulter, Milo Yiannapolis, and Ben Shapiro bans it made sense (though I don't necessarily agree with those bans either), this is just plain absurd.
