Sol was Sol who is active on another movie board. Spike - champion of westerns. Addison - was still on IMDB to the end though considerably less active toward the end. Still publishes his reviews here - thecinemascopecat.blogspot.com.au/TrevorAclea - excellent and knowledgeable poster.

OldAussieYes ... SOL. I remember now. We never actually "talked" other than when I complimented him on his very clever title-melds. Thanks for the memory-jog.

Definitely those who were unabashed film lovers and always had something entertaining and fun to post about--posters such as Addison DeWitt and misspaddylee. And my proudest moment, too, was when I beat out starcore with the correct name of a film on the I Need to Know board. (He was here at the very beginning, but he doesn't seem to post anymore.) Mr. Horse is still roaming around somewhere on these boards, but I'm not sure where. I don't know why, but I always liked when he showed up (even if "No Sir, I do not like it" tended to be his only response to any post, I found his posts oddly welcome).
Then there was that poster whose name escapes me, but whenever Anjune (or was it ilovenewyork1976?) posted, he/she always responded with a recipe of some kind.

marianne48 Never knew Mr Horse on the old boards but he was showing up in the Soapbox for a while until the start of the summer. It was really funny when the "No, Sir, I do not like it " actually fit the subject at hand. Ms Paddy was a delight and always a pleasure when she appeared ! I seem to remember her with a Peppermint Patty avatar before she posted an actual photo.

Great list, Mike. I miss 'em all, too. Many registered here, never or seldom posted, and then they stupidly (IMHO) deleted old "inactive accounts", thus many are lost for good unless they re-register here. I actually miss Jimcat. Really. Amyghost is registered here but hasn't posted in quite some time (that I know of). Jessica Rabbit deserves a mention. Yet another western guy, Samoan Bob, goes way back. I'd love to see Joseph_Gillis from Dublin make a return and come here. Lucia Harper, who quit the old IMDB some years back was and is a friend of mine. Teresa, whom I e-mailed apres le deluge, has yet to respond. A sweet, sweet woman. Eliot Templeton, with whom I had a run-in or two, registered here. I haven't seen any posts by him, though. Yet another Clifton Webb name, Waldo Lydecker, whom I haven't seen for age was a very good poster. Also good, and from long ago: IAmThreadkiller. Gemini/aka Lorraine, mistress of all that is old Hollywood musical, especially light opera. Melvelvit, a man who seemed to know all the dark secrets of old Hollywood. Swift, still alive and kicking IRL but not here. Joelouischama, weird name for a fine, unweird poster. Freddy Lubin is I believe registered here, seldom (ever?) posts. Trpdean. Not registered that I know of. Eric Barker is another.

On the GWTW board, there was a whole coterie of regular posters. We dubbed ourselves "Windies". None of them are here at IMDb v2.0.
E-mails with them were almost as much fun as the live chats I had enjoyed at movie revival theaters here in NYC, which I also miss.

I hope everyone is doing well and I suspect that maybe a few of them are lurking on this board, and if they are I hope they'll reconsider and join the board!

RolloTreadway used to post on the Music General board on the old site. One thread was on actual newspapers mentioned in song lyrics. I came up with a pun or two, as is my wont, and Rollo followed with "I'm Pravda be an Okie from Muskogee". I was in awe!

Two guys I posted with a lot on Hitchcock: ECarle and Swanstep.
Also, the poster who first went by the name WardJane, way back, went through a couple of transformations, ended up with something like IShallWearPuurple (I hope that's right). She's well along in years now and I hope still with us.
There was also a VioletLady, or something like that, who hasn't been around for a while,

There was also a VioletLady, or something like that, who hasn't been around for a while, IShallWearPurple's first name is Jane and she's a lovely lady, sharp as a wit! Can't say I recall VioletLady. There was a vionnetcavanagh who posted a lot but then left a few years ago after causing a huge ruckus, came back a couple of years ago but didn't stick around too long. tele, do you remember Lechugilla? I think he was the only poster who insisted on posting primarily about the technical aspects of classic films, didn't seem to want to discuss classic film stars at all!

Yes. I'm trying to track down her blog now. Jane, I mean. She's well into her eighties,
Vionetcavanagh is one whose name I remember, that's all.
Lech, yes. He was erudite. I believe he was Asian, maybe even from Asia.
Remember the pompous Arthicus? He wrote like a professor. I don't mean that as a compliment.
Has Harold Robbins been mentioned? Good poster, Hal.
Goin' way back, there was ManInOil. A lot of people didn't like him but I found him very bright and capable.
The two "Glens", ME and Esquire are registered here but I haven't seen to much posting from them in recent months,
Then there was Joystar, whom I don't think posted much on the CFB but was a regular on the old IMDB. She's at another site now.

I didn't have many conversations with vionetcavanagh, know her primarily through others who mentioned about the holiday scuffle. Harold Robbins has not been mentioned, thanks for bringing him up! Great poster, I wonder what he's up to these days. Can't say I remember Joystar or ManInOil but I like that name! Both Glens are MIA, hopefully they'll show up at a future date. So many, many more, 15 years is a long time and a lot of acquaintances and friends were made. Good reminiscing!

There's a few familiar faces at the icm movie forum but I find the traffic is extremely slow there. The atmosphere is learned, scholarly and academic so I'm not much good lol. In truth, I don't find the technical format very user friendly so I don't currently post there much, once a week if that. I also joined another movie board but stopped posting there.
I really like it here at imdb2 - I hope more people come and post here. I'm grateful to the creators of these boards for providing us with a home away from home.
