For the longest time, it was a tie between Godfather & Raiders.
Now I'm pretty sure Godfather just wins out altogether.

I now consider my "Favorite Movie" to be a Top Tier of 4 (in no order):
The Dark Knight Raiders of the Lost Ark Apocalypse Now Goodfellas
It fluctuates for me. No Country For Old Men or The Godfather or The Usual Suspects might briefly sneak in. Maybe even O Brother, Where Art Thou? on a strange day.
Also, what I consider the "Best Movie I Have Seen" is far different than "My Favorite Movie I Have Seen" (e.g. The Godfather is a better movie than Raiders of the Lost Ark, but I enjoy Raiders slightly more).

The top four are... The Thing (1982) Apocalypse Now (theatrical cut) Taxi Driver The Godfather Part II

I like both, but I agree, the Theatrical Cut is better. That's just strange to me.

The Dark Knight is right there on its heels though.

That's interesting. I finally found one! That's good to know, because I recently bought both on Blu-Ray and I'm planning on watching them soon. They're both good. I just think that the Theatrical Cut keeps the tension, mood, and atmosphere the same and authentic throughout the entire runtime.

I like the plantation scene becasue it is like a calm before the storm and it maybe the most haunting scene in the movie to me because of that. It's almost like a house full of ghosts who just exist among all the horror.

moviemouthNope. i 'might' be able to filter it down a little bit but after a certain point it just becomes too difficult to pick anything definitive. but i can say Road to Perdition (2002) would be in the running for my #1 spot especially given i consider it pretty rare in that it combines great visuals/moments/score well which amps up the movie and gives it a edge over the majority of those movies on that short list of ten movies. i just don't see these three things combine as well as this one does, even amongst my very top movies like i listed, which is why i 'think' i can make the claim that it's on the better half of those movies i listed. but even with that said... i can't definitively say that Road to Perdition is my #1 which is why i just listed my 10/10's and left it at that because i can say my #1 movie would be one of those ten at the very least. it's safe for me to say that much. p.s. while there is only ten movies i gave a 10/10... i would say not all that long ago it was probably around double that figure. so while it sucks that my 10/10's are getting rarer, on a positive note, it just makes those that remain a 10/10 all that much better in a way Agreed. it basically don't make sense to separate the two as movies ultimately come back to personal enjoyment as everything else is irrelevant. sure, having a 'well made' movie (which i imagine is where those who do separate the two would start looking into these more technical aspects etc(but even this area might be somewhat up for debate(?))) can help but that won't mean much if the overall movie don't have some solid impact (which basically means some sorta stronger emotional response) on you.

I'll just add Road to Perdition to the big list then.
