Dude, pick a franchise already! TEXT: …I am in discussions with David Ellison, who is the current rights holder globally for the Terminator franchise and the rights in the US market revert to me under US copyright law in a year and a half so he and I are talking about what we can do. Right now we are leaning toward doing a three-film arc and reinventing it.” We’ll put more meat on the bones if we get past the next couple of hurdles as and when we announce that.” screenrant.com/james-cameron-new-terminator-trilogy-franchise/

Cameron seems to be planning a lot and doing nothing. Maybe he should be in politics?

Well, I would like a good Terminator movie. But they're really gonna need to stick to the basics if they want to succeed. And by basics I mean worldbuilding that actually make sense. Make a plot premise that works. Or do something completely different where time travel isn't even included, and just do a more straight-forward "holy crap our supercomputers are becoming sentient and they hate us!!" story where they just fight against Skynet without ever introducing time travel.

Well, I have good news for you, then. We have two good Terminator movies that told a complete story. We should just burn all the copies from the films they've made since Judgment Day and pretend it ended when it ended.

Exactly, and T1 and T2 are awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwesome, but I get that he wants to reimagine it for the audiences of today and have it be as good as the first movies. I guess it would be more fun, inventive and novel if film makers wanted to try new stories instead of rehashing their old ones over and over.

It doesn't have to be reimagined I've shown the first two films to my nephews and they had no problem getting it or getting into it.

They want something to to throw up on the cinema screens. You can't really do that with T1, T2. Perhaps making some remastering of the aged, but nonetheless really cool looking, practical puppet effects of cyborg Schwarzenegger's face and arms etc, and then rereleasing in cinemas, would be cool to see at least. but yeah I didn't have a problem watching them in the late 2000s (basically the first time I remember watching them apart from seeing clips on TV as a child and being scared of the milk stabbing scene). The music, writing and directing is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. And the effects are charmingly cool to boot.

They used to re-release films all the time. Point is, the next Terminator film is going to suck. They need to just stop while they're behind. Pretend the others never happened and let the world have the original great story Cameron told and ENDED years ago.

I agree, they really should just stop I mean I watched Geneshit and it brought this once mighty franchise down to Transformers level bad; in fact even worse because at least with Transformers regardless of how bad they are you can still enjoy them if you turn off your brain. I tried that halfway into Geneshit and the plot was just way too convoluted to enjoy as dumb fun.

Of course, I've pretty much just tuned out any and all Terminator news at this point, because I'm just done with it.
