In today's political speech, "liberal" has come to mean just anybody who is not a right-wing extremist.
However, if by "liberal" you mean a concern for humanity and where it is headed, that all people should be respected, and that conservative theology should not be the basis for discriminatory laws, then most artists - or people in the arts, like actors - tend to be liberal by that definition.

Not at all. For example, Salvador Dali was a Catholic monarchist that was close to the Franco regime in Spain.
