Yeah. I heard it's supposed to be a period piece in the vein of those John Huston movies like The African Queen.

I find these movies that The Rock pumps out one after another to be pretty annoying.
Has he ever been in a REALLY good movie? I can't think of any.

Somewhat strange that they are setting it in the Amazon. The ride appears to be in Africa since it has hippos. Maybe a sequel will go to Africa.

Not every film of his has been a 10/10, but most of them have been very good in my opinion. Surely there are other sorts of films that you like that you can focus on instead? Like maybe the Criterion Collection, or the Facets library, or something like that?

Even I love mindless action movies. I think my main issue with him is that I know he can do better. He has the talent to be this generation's Arnie, but I just don't think he has done enough to work towards that iconic action hero status that allowed action heroes like Stallone, Willis, and Arnie to make such great, fun movies.

I love Chris Elliott movies and other works, but I understand that some people can't stand the guy. It's just opinions.

They're trying to nab Emily Blunt for the female lead now. I guess Disney wants to have their own Jumanji 2 now.

Outside the Fast and Furious movies, I enjoyed Hercules (2014) and The Rundown (2003) the most. I also liked HERCULES, plus WALKING TALL (That whole cast are fantastic), JOURNEY 2, SCORPION KING, and GAME PLAN. But HERCULES and WALKING TALL are the absolute favorites. So this might end up being at least a half-decent movie, given the cast and that it is Disney trying to branch out from Princesses/Marvel/StarWars. They need a replacement for PIRATES (esp. if they ever do decide to film a third TRON film).

Yeah, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle makes me more confident about him headlining a jungle adventure flick-again. It's a wonder Disney hasn't tried to make a Jungle Cruise movie sooner. It seems like a logical successor to the Pirates movies.
