As a young teenager, (to young to drive or go anywhere on Saturday nights), my younger brother and I used to cook frozen pizza, go downstairs and watch Monty Python at 11:30 on Saturday nights. It was on PBS of all stations, before cable....terrible reception on an old B&W portable TV. It's amazing how something so crappy is a fond and happy memory!

People who calls Monty Python`s flying circus crappy can not be taken seriosly.
Unless you are refering to the TV reception.

Anyone that thinks Monty Python has no clue as to what they're talking about.
It's easily one of my top 5 shows, and i have a large DVD Python collection

WTTW Channel 11 ((Sunday (or Saturday?) nights at 2200-2230, 2230-2300 or was it 2300-2330??)).
It was SO FUNNY that my sister said the half-hour felt like it was ONLY five minutes.

Great Times where had in the '70s on Sunday nights here when I was a teen. About four of my friends would gather and watch the show faithfully every week!

It was groundbreaking, and there's a good handful of really great sketches, but it was also very repetitive.

Sorry for the late response...I WAS talking about the reception and the TV itself....not the show. We loved it! That was the point: we put up with terrible reception just to watch this show!! How would it be fond memories if we didn't like the show? Why would we bother to watch?

I thought it was just okay when it was new, wasn't a major fan in its heyday, but later on, in the Eighties, I revisited the show on a local TV station whose VHF channel seemed to air Monty Python reruns continuously, and I came to love it.
And then came Fawlty Towers, one of the funniest things I've ever seen on television.

some of the sketches I still find very funny, others fall flat. but I never get tired of my favourites

We liked the show so much that we bought the LP record albums of the sketches back in the day.
