Let me preface this by saying that I don't think the Han Solo film is going to be an adaptation of Timothy Zahn's Scoundrels. However with Woody Harrelson confirmed to be an EU character I'm wondering if they may be taking some inspiration from that story. Scoundrels has a colourful cast of characters to draw from Solo's crew was largely made up with people he had history with (even though it's not canon anymore).
Perhaps Emilia Clarke is playing identical twin ghost burglars Bink and Tavia? Could Thandie Newton be aristocrat and underworld fixer Rachele Ree?
Let the speculation begin.

Call me crazy, but Scoundrels was literally the only Zahn Star Wars book I couldn't get through. Is it worth giving it another chance in your opinion? I've read all of his other EU -- oh, sorry, "Legends" (chokes back vomit) -- books and loved them. Scoundrels just seemed kinda aimless and inconsequential.

I've read all of his other EU -- oh, sorry, "Legends" (chokes back vomit) -- books and loved them. Scoundrels just seemed kinda aimless and inconsequential. I had fun with it but I suppose it's not to all tastes. It's quite a change of pace from Zahn's other works but I enjoy a good heist so it was fun seeing familiar Star Wars character take part in a breezy crime caper. I'm not even worried about it being inconsequential as it takes place between two existing stories and so there's only so much impact you can have on the broader sweep of events. There were a few cringe inducing moments (a scenario is contrived involving Han wielding a whip while running away from a giant rolling sphere) but overall I liked the story, the charters and the little nods to Zahn's other works. However I'd be reluctant to recommend giving it a second chance. I tend to trust my instincts about whether I'm enjoying something or not and there's no 'hurdle' in Scoundrels that you have to get past. I was into it more or less from the start and if you weren't then it's probably not to your taste. It may also have helped that I had the audio rather than the actual book, a good narrator can do wonders with a story.
