A sequel to a cult flop. Seems like less buzz than Prometheus, maybe it can achieve Mad Max Fury Road moderate success numbers with decent reviews.

Maybe it'll do fine. Or maybe the combination of Ninjago and Kingsman 2 will crush it. Who knows?

The visuals could be stunning, but many didn't like Ghost in a Shell albeit there are similarities...maschine/A.I. vs. human soul.
Imho Hollywood will lack the ball to create a highly controvertial movie and tries not to cross boundaries but to please everyone. It will neither be hot or cold but lukewarm.

Well biggest complaint for GITS was all shell no ghost a soulless spectacle. So if blade runner can get that part right it should be fine.

Ghost in the Shell is an abomination. Sure, it's visually pleasant (and rips off the first anime for it) but the story is so awfully weak, it's a travesty of a movie. Bladerunner, I don't know. The latest trailer made it look like another mindless action movie with some philosophical elements in it, which are predictable and already done a million times over. I hope this movie does not turn out to be merely a repeat of the first movie with better visuals. (although the first movie had excellent visuals too.) I had high hopes for a lot of movies this year, so far, none have been good. (Wonderwoman, The Dark Tower, Valerian, Ghost in the Shell) Maybe this one will break that pattern, here's hoping!

B.O.? I think it's inevitable. For its brand though, I wouldn't worry about that at all.
I'm going in with the expectation this will be to the original as 2010 was to 2001 ASO.

Well "IT" has turned a massive profit so maybe this has a chance.

Whats the budget for this film? I can't seem to find it anywhere (other than the director hinting in an interview that its one of the most expensive R rated films ever made).
Also, will casual film fans be turned off by the long running time? I'm not sure. I hope not cause I am rooting for this film to be awesome & make a ton of money.
What I am sure of is I'll be seeing it opening night! Easily the most anticipated film of this year (a lot of my friends feel the same way)

I predict a globalist piece of crap myself.
I never cared for the original though. Nice visuals but as a film noir I think it was a fail. The characters were just too thinly sketched out. The only lively one was J Emmett Walsh. Though Chew was a good character.

It takes very little time to point out that 6 big corporations control all media and dictate content. I mean, the very fact they are dragging out a 75 year old Ford for a sequel to this underperforming film from 30 years ago should give anyone some pause, regardless of their internet usage time. I dont understand why it upsets you-if you can refute the conspiracy, simply do so with examples. Those who resort to personal attacks usually do so because of weakness in other areas.

Yeah, nice try, but 'Blade Runner 2049' is being made by an independent studio named Alcon Entertainment.
And that's without mentioning that they were developing a sequel since 1999.

Ahem! Since its establishment, Alcon Entertainment has developed and financed films that are ultimately distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, following a ten-year motion picture production agreement Editorial oversight. The production company wants money, they do what Warners Bros. tells them. Case in point-they made Point Break and Bodhi becomes Latino. Globalism-rinse-repeat. Believe you me I wish I was wrong but 6 companies have a lot of reach when they control distribution.

Yeah, all they say is that Warner Brothers simply DISTRIBUTES Alcon's films, which explains why Villeneuve described the film as the most expensive R-rated independent film.
Nice try, though.

Wrong. Warner Bros provides production money. That is how distribution works. They make a production agreement with the distributor and get money from them for the production. The only difference is, Warner is not the primary production company--but they still can make demands on content. As I have said-these companies are not poor. They can write off a dozen big budget movies easily due to their other media holdings. The idea that they make what the public wants or have to keep a pulse on public tastes is as ludicrous as saying that politicians serve the interest of the public and not donors. But I am sure you will enjoy the movie so my congratulations.

Let's see.. Anakin was a blonde male with no father and mother issues. His wife is Israeli. The smart cool Jedi is a black guy. Boba Fett is now Maori. The only other alpha white guy Kenobi fails as a teacher and warrior.
Now it is possible that Lucas just had sentiments that matched the studio owners but if they did not he would not have scored distribution.
Lots of globalist stuff in the original trilogy too though. Beta male is the lead, mixed race co-stars, the black guy is the only heroic character (he destroys the Death Star without help or the Force). The bad guys are all white.
etc..
