Let's see.. Anakin was a blonde male with no father and mother issues. His wife is Israeli. The smart cool Jedi is a black guy. Boba Fett is now Maori. The only other alpha white guy Kenobi fails as a teacher and warrior. Now it is possible that Lucas just had sentiments that matched the studio owners but if they did not he would not have scored distribution. Lots of globalist stuff in the original trilogy too though. Beta male is the lead, mixed race co-stars, the black guy is the only heroic character (he destroys the Death Star without help or the Force). The bad guys are all white. etc.. Are you happen to be an associate to Dinesh D'Souza? Because you're seriously coming off as one at this point.

The visuals could be stunning, but many didn't like Ghost in a Shell albeit there are similarities...maschine/A.I. vs. human soul. Imho Hollywood will lack the ball to create a highly controvertial movie and tries not to cross boundaries but to please everyone. It will neither be hot or cold but lukewarm. Ghost in the Shell is an abomination. Sure, it's visually pleasant (and rips off the first anime for it) but the story is so awfully weak, it's a travesty of a movie. Bladerunner, I don't know. The latest trailer made it look like another mindless action movie with some philosophical elements in it, which are predictable and already done a million times over. I hope this movie does not turn out to be merely a repeat of the first movie with better visuals. (although the first movie had excellent visuals too.) I had high hopes for a lot of movies this year, so far, none have been good. (Wonderwoman, The Dark Tower, Valerian, Ghost in the Shell) Maybe this one will break that pattern, here's hoping! My hopes this years went with Aliens - Covenant. I yearned for a continuation of Prometheus, and all they delivered was a monster movie of the worst kind (the Aliens is the least thing I care about) - if you can speak German I could provide a great review why and how it failed. They only movie that pleased my this years was Ghost in the Shell. I don't know the anime series or movies. I know that they were there and the music video "King in my Castle" but that's it. What can I say: I thought Scarlett was a great major, the visuals were stunning if not ground breaking and the story was absolutely ok. Arrival was good nut not that good, and Passengers was ok. Lawrence is a bit like Toris Amos in her later years: great talent but always failing to transform this talent into great albums (movies). And if Mother will be the next big thing...

We have very differing tastes I think Which is by no means a bad thing, don't get me wrong
I doubt I'll ever change my view on Ghost with the Shell; I found it to be awful. And Arrival is one of my favourite movies ever

it's possible, has some visual similarities to Ghost in the Shell (which took influences from Blade Runner ) which may turn people off, also it's a sequel to film most cinephiles either love or respect, but one that general audience doesn't give a flying f- about or even know. so all you can do is hope that the trailers had enough visual beauty and were cut well enough for the average joe schmoe to say "you know....... I wanna check that out"

The budget is apparently between $150 and $200 million. Brave.

Really really don't care about BO. All i want is a worthy sequel to Blade Runner, and from what i saw it looks great

I feel its heights are too great to be successful as the box office as well.

this is starting to get good buzz, not sure if anyone will care under the age of 30 though My nephew is 25 and wants to see it, but he's a pretty big movie buff and even has some silent movies in his home library. I think a fair portion of twenty-somethings who are well-versed in cinema will be interested tbh.

If there's good word of mouth - and that seems to be the case - people will see the film regardless if they're familiar with the original or not. The early BO tracking suggests $40 to $45 million. But positive feedback could make the film over perform and give it legs.

But positive feedback could make the film over perform and give it legs. Prometheus opened to 51m, BR2049 should top that with rave reviews. Given the budget the movie should make at least 200m domestically and 500m worldwide to be considered a success. With no big blockbuster until Thor Rangkok, that seems possible.

I'm rooting for this film to make bank at the box office. Cause I want the director to be able to direct whatever type of films he wants. So damn talented. Reviews for BR2049 have been stellar so far , so hopefully audiences go out and support it.

Blade Runner is looking at a $33M+ opening. Might not even cross $100 million domestic? I don't understand what happened as advanced ticket sales were good.

I've not seen the film yet but I've seen and read many reviews saying its fantastic. From this I gather its a very non-mainstream film that doesn't contain much action and a story which develops slowly but firmly that requires the general audience to be patient and use their brains. Unfortunately, the average cinema goer doesn't have these qualities especially for a 2hr50m runtime so I'm not surprised its opened poorly. When was the last time a big-ish budget film which doesnt pander to simplistic Audiences actually did good at the box office? The Martian perhaps?
