It's more because the Toxic DC Fans seem to think this Oscar means anything and are trying to rub it in the MCU's face, to make up for the lack of critical success in their films. Critical success is just as meaningless as an Oscar. They're both just an opinion of a few people. What matters is what the audiences think. The first 3 DCEU films have outgrossed the first 3 MCU films. Higher home video/bluray/dvd sales for DC as well.

The first DCEU films had them using their big guns that everyone knows about (Superman, Batman, Joker) and cost more to make. The first three MCU films were about lesser known characters, so they had a harder time.
Two different situations.

Yeah, but they're approaching with the exact OPPOSITE mindset as before, just as I said they'd have to. Had the first film been a winner in China, they'd probably just make another hot mess of a film. You know, I really appreciate your perspective on Animated films. You have some tastes in film we agree on weirdraptor. However, why are you so obsessed with this DC/MCU rivalry? I think you have more potential than that as an objective movie goer and discussion board member. This isn't something to take personally. There are people who hate my tastes in film and my favorite actors etc... But that is their choice. This thread just looks like an attempt to discredit the DCEU for it's Oscar. It comes off as a sore/hurt MCU fanatic who is mad the DCEU won an Oscar and the MCU hasn't, so you feel the need to get confirmation of your feelings from other randos on the internet to fill this need you have. It isn't worth it. There is so much more to film than this silly CBM rivalry. You've read into my motives wrong. I'm more irritated that this thread hasn't died than anything else. I truly think the Oscar win is absolutely meaningless, nothing more. I am an objective film goer. I know a bad film when I see when. I am not obsessed with the Marvel/DC rivalry. That's Dennis's hat. The only time I shoot is when I feel I've had shots fired in my direction.

You're basically dragging that your cinematic universe is more popular than the one I prefer. Also, not a fair comparison. Ironman was nothing until 2008 as far as the general public was concerned, but Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman have been the big three since forever. So that's not a fair comparison.

I think SS earned its award, but I agree it's not a big bragging point. However some DCEU fanboys cling to anything to make a point. As soon as I saw the result yesterday I knew that DC fans would be making fun and acting victorious I'm more of a DC fan but I think Doctor Strange would've deserved to win and I was sad to see it lose. It would've been interesting to see two superheroes win an Oscar in the same year. To be honest I'd rather Star Trek Beyond won the hair and makeup category. Some of the designs for the aliens are absolutely amazing. And I have to agree with you on Doctor Strange, it looked as though it was going to win. Sad to see it lose. But, The Jungle Book deserved its win.

Not a stellar film by any means, but certainly engaging and far better than it got any credit for being. Oh well.
