I suppose the red part of Manchester is grinning a little broader than the blue at the moment but City can join their Trafford neighbours in the top two by seeing off Everton by three goals or more (and that's to leapfrog current second-placers Huddersfield) City left it to the last twenty minutes to secure the three points at Brighton last week while Everton satisfied themselves with a one-nothing win over Stoke.
City: Ederson, Kompany, Stones, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Walker, De Bruyne, Silva, Sane, Aguero, Gabriel Jesus. Subs: Bravo, Danilo, Sterling, Mangala, Bernardo Silva, Toure, Foden.
Everton: Pickford, Keane, Williams, Jagielka, Holgate, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Baines, Calvert-Lewin, Davies, Rooney. Subs: Mirallas, Martina, Sigurdsson, Klaassen, Besic, Stekelenburg, Lookman.
Ref : Robert 'call me Bobby' Madley - 4 Yellows and 0 Reds in 1 PL outing this campaign (he did, however, send off Pedro in the 2017 Community Shield)
Man City 3/10 Everton 10/1 Draw 5/1 (BET365)

Oh dear. My young player of the year for 16/17, the very promising Tom Davies of Everton, very uncharacteristically goes down and earns himself a Yellow for simulation. Don't go there, lad. You don't need to.

A good counter-attack from Everton after Silva had struck the post for City on '34. First blood to the visitors.

Rooney could be the best bit of business this summer.

Sane's gotta make up for that. Rooney's gonna do a few favours for Utd this season

Terrible mess up by the ref. Just 30 seconds from that fancy tech we saw during the Summer would have sorted this out.

he will bag loads in that team.
for united he was forced in to being a being a total footballer due to the lack of a matic or two. - he played everywhere last couple of years. at everton he will be top by - free role up top with half decent service - good shout for golden boot

Personally, I look at the other players we have, and I think; he's definitely worth taking at minimum.

Silva needs to grow his hair back. It's where his power lies.
Rooney will get no more than 12. Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't addressed Lukaku's departure. Could cost them.

I can see him having a kind of 'miracle' season (with more to come),rather than a last chance )- more of a second coming that will silence the doubters, in a free role.
and yes he has that 'beckham' angle that he wants to keep on playing for england- and maybe he can and maybe he is right to. even with kane and co.

Is Pep a fraud? Wasting so much on so-so defenders.

The faraway sound of the frantic rustling of paper as Sheik Aba Dabba Doo rifles through his desk to check the small print in that £15m Guardiola contract.

Aguero is such a shit isn't he...
Don't think Rooney will score as few as 12, don't think he'll win the golden boot either, so I'll go somewhere in the middle... 16/17 league goals. On the proviso he plays most matches and isn't moved into some kind of deep lying midfield role.
