Why are we going to have a third Joker when we already have 2, one in the DCEU and one in Gotham? This sounds like a bad idea, and with Todd Phillips directing? You mean the guy who hasn't made a good movie since the first Hangover?

i don't get why is Scorsese involved in this. I mean, he's like one of the gretest directors of all time, why eould he bother with a Joker movie instead of making his own movies? ok, he's only a producer but still.. Can you imagine his filmography? It'll say Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas... The Joker.

Why are we going to have a third Joker when we already have 2, one in the DCEU and one in Gotham? If the Krypton show casts its own Superman since it's going to be standalone, we will have three. And why not, alternate universes are traditionally a DC thing. And since the DCEU doesn't work for a lot of people, Wonder Woman aside - as frankly Snyder and Goyer are poor builders - branching out while also trying to improve is the smart thing to do.

Why did we have a 3rd Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) when we already had 2 (Eric Bana and Edward Norton)?
Why did we have a 2nd Rhodey (Don Cheadle) when we already had 1 (Terence Howard)?

"The origin film is planned to be a “gritty and grounded hard-boiled crime film set in early-’80s Gotham City” that’s meant to feel more like a Scorsese movie from that era (something like Taxi Driver or Raging Bull) than the DC movies we’ve come to expect."

When I see it in text like that it's not so bad. Scorsese is just brilliant, even if he is just a producer. I just don't see why it won't connect with the DCEU. Maybe Scorsese wanted to have some fun and make a comic book movie, but he didn't want to be nailed down on a long contract? I don't know. This is just a strange situation all around to me.

Yeah, I don't understand it either. Personally, I've never cared for DC so I don't really care what they do. I just want a good movie and a 80s hard boiled crime thriller with The Joker and Scorcese on board sounds great. I just with he'd direct it....

The average viewer would have no idea what was going on. This is just weird stuff that they shouldn't have messed with.

It is strange that he would produce a movie with a shaky director at the helm. If I was a brilliant director like him, I'd make it myself. Maybe he knows something about Phillips that we don't? I hope so.

For people who say they don't or won't understand the concept of a multiverse, have you ever seen Star Trek?
The original series has an episode titled "Mirror, Mirror" in which Kirk, Scotty, McCoy, and Uhura are accidentally transported to a alternative universe where the Federation uses force to conquer weaker planets. Kirk is ordered by that universe's Starfleet to destroy a planet if the planet didn't give them some crystals that the Federation wanted. Kirk, Scotty, McCoy, and Uhura have to figure out how to get back to their own universe without destroying the planet and without getting found out by that universe's Spock, who is suspicious of them.
That was a good episode, but I guess people who say they don't or wont understand the concept of a multiverse wouldn't understand that episode since that was basically dealing with a multiverse. The concept of a multiverse really isn't that hard to understand.

Two universes (universi?) would be fine. Probably even three. Is it the simplest option? No, but it would be doable. The problem is that the multiverse consists of an infinite amount of unseen universes as well as a half dozen or more universes that are given full focus and closure. The average fan can't keep up with that.

The Reeves' Batman was a misunderstanding (thank God), but the whole Joker origin movie is still in murky waters. Unless I've missed some new(er) news, I think they're still saying that the Joker standalone is separate from the DCEU; which makes no sense to me. It just seems like they want to setup a multiverse complex.

But first they gotta iron out the kinks in the ONE they're trying to jumpstart right now and get its rules well-established first. You do weird stuff like a multiverse AFTER you've gotten all the fans on-board with what you already have.

Joker films planed, a non-DCEU Bat-verse crime drama with Scorsese involved, PLUS a Harley and Joker film with the SS actors. That seems overly ambitious and confident to push out two Joker movies, thus it is almost defenitely untrue and just discussed on some level. www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/joker-harley-quinn-movie-scores-crazy-stupid-love-filmmakers-write-direct-1032210

>a guy who commits crime donning clown outfits, using circus-themed weapons and fatal practical jokes. >gritty and grounded Kind of like Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight. >a guy who commits crime donning clown outfits, using circus-themed weapons and fatal practical jokes. >gritty and grounded Translation: the Dark Knight. But with just the Joker. Alright, sure. But Heath's Joker wasn't super clowny, he was more of a domestic terrorist with eccentric idiosyncrasies. But I stand corrected.

Even if this universe isn't considered to be "fixed" by the masses, I think they could do it by the end. Once a few Justice League movies have come out and this core of characters are portrayed, then they may as well go for it. I just don't see a point to stretching themselves too thin.

And I don't see why The Joker origin HAS to be separate, anyway, unless Scorsese absolutely doesn't want to use Affleck. P.S.: And just so you know, my mocking topic "Well, that didn't take long" only exists to ruffle DC-Fan and Tristan's feathers. Its in no way a dig at you.
