I remember seeing an episode of a low budget sci-fi show, I think it was from the 70's. I think it must have been an old episode of Dr. Who but I would like some confirmation.
Anyway in the ep there are these people who call themselves the egg plant people and they literally have an egg plant growing out of the side of their heads.
If it wasn't Dr. Who it may have even been a movie. I really don't remember anything else about it.

"The Seeds of Doom"? This is about some humans being transformed into alien plants. They DON'T refer to themselves as "Eggplant People".

The alien in that story is called a Krynoid, as you can see in the trailer:

The censors missed it.

I've only seen (heard actually) this on WTTW's edition. It could've been deleted from the DVD.

Early on during the Antarctica portion. The guy who says it is facing away from the camera is his voice is somewhat muffled, but one can still clearly make out that that's what he says.

When Charles Winlett is attacked by the Krynoid, he collapses and it does sound like he says, "Goddammit". But if you turn the subtitles on, you realize "Dammit" is actually "Derek" - he's calling out to one of the other men on the team who is named Derek Moberley.

Thanks. I'm familiar with "The Seeds of Doom" and it isn't that one. Maybe it was some other show.

I don't think it was "Meglos" either but I'm not sure. I'm not even sure it was Dr. Who. It may have been another show altogether. I wish I could remember more.

I finally got the answer more than 3 years after asking the question. It's from a show called "The Starlost" (1973-1974). There is an episode called "The Implant People"! Somehow I misremembered it as eggplant. They had some sort of technologie implanted in their heads that sort of looked like and eggplant fruit on the side of their heads. My young mind must have mixed it up completely. It's by pure luck that I found the answer. I was watching a youtube video with a list of 1970's TV scifi failures and this show came up and I didn't remember the name but it looked familiar so I looked it up on IMDB and realized this was the show that I had remembered all these years. It's so cool when something like this happens.
What do you think about this?

Well, first of all, congratulations! It’s always satisfying when you track down a half-remembered memory. Also, it means maybe there’s hope for Mr. Sleuth Singer and the Columbo that wasn’t after all…
