I have several. In fact, I have NO ads on THIS site. I DON'T pay NOR do I get that annoying guy ("Can we talk?") anymore that asks you to pay for having no ads. Except for the rare time when one of them doesn't work for some unknown reason (a glitch).

I even like this movie's flaws. Is bringing the storyline to Earth a lame way to save money and a cheesy 80s type of gimmick? Yes. I think we all would have liked to have seen the movie take place on Eternia. But despite that, I actually like the Earth stuff. As a kid, he gave me characters to relate to. Plus, it gave us Lubic! The shootout in Charlie's music store? Awesome! Gwildor eating Robbie's ribs is comedic gold! Did you know that Charlie is the adopted fourth son on 'My Three Sons'?No, I did not know that. Interesting little tidbit.

Frank Langella could teach a course on how to play evil characters in superhero films.

Some people who OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T read the CREDITS (used) to thought (OR still think) that Skeletor was played by the late great Jack Palance.

Meg Foster also did a good job.

How do YOU think Christopher Lloyd, John Lithgow OR Timothy Dalton would've been in the role had FL NOT been interested NOR considered.

Well I don't think Lithgow would have worked AT ALL. I think Lloyd would have been ok.
Dalton--I don't know. It depends how he would have considered being buried under the makeup--but I think Shakespeare trained actors "get it" more so than Method ones. But I consider Dalton more of the "romantic lead" type so I am not sure he would bring anything to it.
Langella was great because he not only treated it seriously, but he went ALL OUT to treat it like Richard the Third of the toy world.

Actually Langella also did romantic lead parts--he may have been the first Zorro I remember too. But his voice is more distinctive than Dalton as he got older.
I could see Oliver Reed doing Skeletor more effectively than Dalton.

I could see Oliver Reed doing Skeletor more effectively than Dalton. HAD this been made in the 50s OR 60s instead (and I was the casting director) I WOULD'VE chosen and WANTED Gregory Peck (IF he DIDN'T mind the makeup) for Skeletor. I can EASILY see him doing it.

I thought of Dalton because he makes me think of a Welsh version of Langella. He also looks more like him than the other two.

Oh I thought Dalton had been considered for the part! lol Seems unlikely given James Bond.
Someone once suggested Christopher Lloyd would have been a good Joker. Judge Doom was a similar kind of character.

How do YOU think Jack Palance would've been (since some idiots thought it was)? Good, although I think he may have been a little more muted, more of a thinking Skeletor. He was under heavy makeup in Jekyll and Hyde but didnt feel he has to overcome it with exaggerated acting so I don't think he would have done that with Skeletor.
Langella was so unique. Maybe because he had not done anything similar, so he brought a quality to it that was unusually energetic.
The first time I saw it I was NOT impressed because I knew the cartoon show and it was so different. I thought--ugh, it's Dracula in a moldy mask. But later I saw the brilliance of it. Especially since a) he was acting opposite that grand thespian Lundgren, and b) he had to wear that ridiculous golden mask on top of it at the end and yet even then he didn't feel ridiculous!
By contrast, I think Robert DeNiro made the worst Frankenstein monster--he seemed to be completely subdued under the make up.

I listened to the director's commentary (the same guy involved in Bryan Singer shenanigans!). It's not a good commentary-boring.
