6 thousand years of history would seem to suggest that we are. It's why have such a polarized wealth disparity. But we're also a species of easily distracted ape-like idiots. It's why 100 people own half the world's wealth and no one seems to care.

Can you imagine if 1000 people got shipwrecked on an island and a few years later 10 of them owned everything and the other 990 were working on the beach every day just to have something to eat? LMAO. Welcome to capitalism.

It's why 100 people own half the world's wealth and no one seems to care. It would seem so, that is why real communism never works. Until humanity lets go of power and materialism and truly share things with another then thats the way it will be. Once that's overcome, the world will experience a golden age of the likes no one has ever seen before. Why do you think corruption happens? Root of it is laziness, short-cuts or to have more power/money. In essence it's greed by way of gaining more or letting someone else do more if that makes sense. In the eagerness of humanity's quest to advance, unfortunately values and compassion have fallen and need to be rectified to truly prosper. Also in answering the wealth question, capitalism is a lie but it's the best system we have albeit not perfect. Say everyone was smart and did well in school, what would happen to those labor or low-skilled jobs? Someone has to collect trash, someone has to pour concrete etc Now the solution would be AI robotics but thats a dangerous game. They talk of universal basic income (since jobs would be lost to robots) etc but just to make life more convenient, pleasurable, should we risk extinction? The Matrix, Terminator, Westworld, Battlestar Galactica and Dune are all cautionary tales that would be well-served to listen to

Actually a better alternative to capitalism is possibly anarcho-socialism, which to my knowledge has never failed but also has only been tested primarily in religious or criminal communities, ironically. Basically people form groups, every member has an equal vote, but there is a leader that mostly acts as a manager and makes routine decisions but all major decisions are voted on by the group. Groups conduct business as they see fit and members are generally compensated based on a share system and by contribution. For example, if the group has a chair making business, only members who contribute to chairmaking share those profits (unless the group votes otherwise). The more work you contribute to chairmaking, the more shares you get.
