I remember my parents watching them in syndication when I was a kid and being creeped out. One about a guy having his feet chopped off after being in a car accident may have influenced Stephen King's Misery. I also recall something about a brooch shaped like a mouse or something eating a woman and a kid that had a closet in his house that led to a cabin covered in snow.
It's possible I'm misremembering some or all of those episodes. They may have even been eps of a different TV show. So do those episodes sound familiar to anyone? The op seems to have addressed everyone here but me for some reason. So sorry about that poelzig - been juggling all around the other precious boards I posted on here before - almost caught up somewhat . I do remember the NG Episode short story you mentioned here it was called " Marmalade Wine " from season 2 . * This following episode info from Wikipedia - "A careless braggart (Robert Morse) has a fateful meeting with a reclusive surgeon (Rudy Vallée). "
Excellent catch there too on the inspiration for the Stephen King movie - Misery .
Also another bit of trivia on the painting for this short story the exact same one was used in the other short story episode - " Satisfaction Guaranteed " also from season 2 * also the Wikipedia episode info - " A well-dressed gentleman presents himself at a secretarial agency that hasn't failed to satisfy a client in twenty-five years. "
Also the other NG Episode you mentioned with the " mouse brooch " was called " A Feast of Blood " and from season 2 * Wikipedia episode info - " A suitor (Norman Lloyd) gives a woman (Sondra Locke) a brooch that looks almost alive. Note: Based on a short story "The Fur Brooch" by Dulcie Gray "
I remember the little critter was called a " Vodo " and I also remember mentioning on the old board it seemed to me to be a play on the word " VooDoo " perhaps .
The final one you mentioned here - " a kid that had a closet in his house that led to a cabin covered in snow. " I'm not familiar with that one as an NG episode unless you are thinking of this one from NG entitled - Silent Snow, Secret Snow from season 2 * Wikipedia info - " A boy's (Radames Pera) fascination with snow lures him into a fantasy world. Note: Based on a short story of the same title by Conrad Aiken; narrated by Orson Welles "
Thanks so much poelzig for your reply .

I am a big fan of The Night Gallery. I do not know which versions MeTV aired and I know the Gary Collins series Sixth Sense was mixed in with The Night Gallery episodes. Did not like most of the Sixth Sense episodes. Don't like Gary Collins. Thank goodness I saw all of The Night Gallery when it was first aired way back in the early 1970s.
Some of my favorite episodes are: The Pilot movie
The Dead Man (Carl Betz-Michael Blodgett-Jeff Corey-Louise Sorel)
The House (Joanna Pettit)
Certain Shadows on the Walls (Agnes Moorehead, Grayson Hall, Rachel Roberts, Louis Hayward)
The Doll (John Williams-Henry Silva)
Death in the Family (E.G. Marshall-Desi Arnaz, Jr.)
Class of '99 (Vincent Price-Brandon de Wilde)
A Question of Fear (Fritz Weaver-Leslie Neilson)
The Devil Is Not Mocked (Francis Lederer-Helmut Dantine)
House-With Ghosts (Jo-Anne Worley-Bob Crane)
Pickman's Model (Bradford Dillman-Louise Sorel)
Cool Air (Barbara Rush-Henry Darrow)
Camera Obscura (Ross Martin-Rene Auberjonois)
The Messiah on Mott Street (Edward G. Robinson-Yaphett Kotto) (my favorite episode of the series)
The Painted Mirror (Arthur O'Connell-Rosemary DeCamp-Zsa Zsa Gabor)
Green Fingers (Elsa Lanchester-Cameron Mitchell)
The Tune in Dan's Café (Pernell Roberts-Susan Oliver) The Miracle at Camafeo (Harry Guardino-Julie Adams-Ray Dantin)
The Ghost of Sorworth Place (Jill Ireland-Richard Kiley)
I'll Never Leave You-Ever (Royal Dano-John Saxon-Lois Nettleson)
The Sins of the Father (Geraldine Page-Richard Thomas-Michael Dunn-Barbara Steele)
The Caterpillar (Laurence Harvey-Joanna Pettit)
The Return of the Sorcerer (Vincent Price-Tisa Sterling-Bill Bixby)
Die Now, Pay Later (Will Geer-Slim Pickins)
I did not include any of the short comedy vignettes. I like most of them but I consider them little extras.

Brilliant show. I always favoured this one over The Twilight Zone. I agree tool this NG Show is brilliant indeed . IMPO - The Twilight Zone is quite imaginative as well . It's just a bit different themed from this show . NG is horror with themed paintings . TZ is about the unexplained and 5th dimension themed . Both very imaginative in it's own way and are timeless classics too . Thanks so much tool for your reply

Excellent camimac ! Do you have any short story favorites from this fine show ? My number one favorite night gallery episode is the one that starred Joan Crawford and featured Tom Bosley. JC's was a selfish, privileged woman, who I believe was either born blind, or went blind at an early age. She desperately wanted to be able to see. A doctor came up with a procedure that would give her sight, but only temporarily, like for 24 hours. The procedure also required that a donor give up his or her corneas (or some other eye part -- I'm going from memory here and its been a while since I've seen the eppy even tho I do have it on DVD). What ever the donor had to give up would leave him/her blind or worse. JC insisted on having the procedure. Some way TC's character was recruited as the donor. He was basically, a sad homeless guy down on his luck. JC tells the doctor that once she has the procedure she wants to be left alone to enjoy her 24 hrs (or how ever long) of sight. The procedure happens. JC is left alone. Its just before sunset that her sight returns. But as soon as she sees the light, she is immediately pitched into darkness. She spends the next several hours stumbling around in the dark, even going outside where everything is in chaos. Some how she ends up back in her home and she again catches a glimpse of light as the sun rises and she is so excited, I don't remember just how it happened but she falls out the window, and falls to her death. It turns out that the reason every thing had been dark was because there was a power black out that happened just as she got her sight the evening before..... I also really like the episode with Godfrey Cambridge. The one where he wanted to be a funny comedian and got his wish and probably learned the meaning of the saying that you should be careful what you wished for.

These are really awesome ones here camimac . The first short story you mentioned here with JC & TB was the second short story called " Eyes " from the 1969 movie pilot and was directed by Steven Spielberg . The second short story you mentioned here was from the TV show on season 1 called - "Make Me Laugh" which also had actor Tom Bosley as the comedians manager . This short story was also directed by Steven Spielberg . Thanks so much for sharing your NG favorites here camimac and for your replies too .

anyone here a fan of this show that was hosted by Rod Serling ( and had some wonderfully eerie paintings done by artist Tom Wright ) ? I haven't seen any episodes since they first aired. The one that sticks most in memory was one with John Astin as kind of an over-ripe hippie that talks about the recent breakup of The Beatles. Yeah, it was a long time ago.

The one with Roddy McDowall from the pilot is my favorite. There Aren't Anymore McBains had a creepy monster (and bit role by Luke Skywalker).
Pickman's Model.
The one about the Nazi and the slug creature in the old house I remembered best from old viewings and the one with the Titanic.
The Caterpillar is another I like.

I thought it was a very good show with several classic episodes, some of which have been mentioned on this thread.
Strange how the memory can be jogged. Earlier in the year I was engaged in a discussion about the possibility that "reality" as we know it is actually a simulation, and I was reminded of a Night Gallery episode which dealt with this. If I remember correctly it was called "Midnight Never Ends."
