I was at work, and since there wasn't much TV coverage at the time, it wasn't until I got home that I saw what actually happened.
We were scheduled to play softball that night. On the way there, I thought....a teammate on the one team I played for was in New York, visiting family and friends that weekend (because he's originally from there). I was praying that he was OK.
I didn't see him until after our game, where we gather for beer. Another teammate ran up to him, shook his hand, and gave him a hug. I remember the teammate who was in New York saying:
We were just there (World Trade Center) on Sunday!
The video for Ryan Adams' song "New York, New York", it was said it was recorded/taped the Friday before the attacks. Before the video aired, there was a marquis that said, "The following video was shot on September 7th, 2001." Ryan is singing under the Brooklyn Bridge, and in the background, one can clearly see the Twin Towers.
Finally, when I see an old movie or TV show, and there is a shot of the Twin Towers, I do a 'rock on' signal - making my pinkie and forefinger (finger closest to my thumb) parallel, as a tribute to the Twin Towers.
