Let's pretend that the MCU was never born. How do you think DC movies would look today? What direction would they have taken? What movie would they have made after the TDK trilogy?

That's a interesting question. I want to say maybe they would be better? Depending on who makes them.

Probably somewhere between the Nolan movies and what Bryan Singer aimed for with Superman Returns. Depending on the character, they would be on the fantastic side but take themselves fairly seriously. It's just one of those "what ifs" the world will never know.

They probably would have still made Man of Steel based on Goyer's idea. Would have been a superman trilogy, self contained like TDK trilogy. Then a justice league movie with new actors production team and interpretations on the characters. That's my guess.

They would still just be Batman trilogies with everything else being a failed attempts. There would be effort at a DC cinematic universe.

Let's pretend that the MCU was never born. How do you think DC movies would look today? What direction would they have taken? What movie would they have made after the TDK trilogy? One of two options: Either they would have continued doing stand alone movies they way they did with the Batman/Dark Knight movies, in which case I still think they were always going to try again with Superman. OR They would have done what Marvel did with a crossover universe except that it would be DC who would have had the formula that makes Marvel successful. DC is only doing different stuff because Marvel got there first. If it had been the other way around I think DC would be the ones ahead.

They'd probably be what they were in the 80s and 90s. Just a series of franchises with no real connection to each other.
I think the most we saw was Jimmy Olsen crossing over onto Supergirl.
I always found it odd that DC seemed reluctant to allow its heroes to crossover in live action adaptations considering how popular and well known the Justice League was.
Heck, we had Daredevil and Thor appearing with the Hulk before Superman and Batman ever appeared together in a movie.
