Fun, thrilling, action packed Sci-fi actioner and a satire on futuristic political correctness! i saw this in theaters when i was 12 and enjoyed it and one of Stallone's finest films.
Simon Phoenix is one of the funniest villains ever even in that verbal violation scene and also in the scene where John Spartan talked to the censor machine saying "thanks alot you shit-brain fuck-faced, ball-breaking, duck fucking pain in the ass" and the machine telling him "you are in violation of the verbal morality strature" which makes me laugh all the time.
It's also a satire on Orwell's 1984 on what if political correctness took over and if taco bell was the main restaurant for a major city and all.

I hate the greeting "Be well" because Walgreens sales associates use to ("force to") say it after they hand your change. This happened after Celebrity Apprentice winning team's suggestion on a new campaign for Walgreens. I think Arsenio Hall was the one who suggested it. Warner Bros. should have sued them for copyright infringement.

It seems almost forgotten today or confused with Judge Dredd (1995). Shame. It was fun.

Stallone explained the three sea shells in an interview. You dont want to know. It's explained here on this review from one of my fave reviewers. And do you think this movie is almost prohetic and frightening in a way it predicts the way things are going now with the SJW and PC culture? the future in this movie was total hell than the heaven that Cocteau thought he did before he did and glad Edgar became the new leader to make freedom back into the city again.

I think the movie was inspired by the Time Machine and Brave New World and Star Trek (and maybe observations on California). At the time it was criticized for suggesting too much of a radical change in society within only a few decades! It doesn't appear all that far fetched in the way it shows social engineering and SJW attitudes.
And the obsession with corporate brands and crass advertising.
The guru figure is a fraud-he wants to stir up crime so he can exploit it for his own purposes. Not that far removed from communism conspiracy theories.
Wasn't the future society homogeneous? I cant remember any multiculturalism in the city except in the oriental-style clothing.
You would think the mastermind would have been smart enough to see that if he let Simon Phoenix resurrect other criminals he would need to have them re-wired so they couldnt kill him.
This was the movie that gave Sandra Bullock a lot of attention--Stallone also had Cliffhanger that year and Janine Turner lamented that she didnt get a similar career boost (but she was already on tv).

And they considered Taco Bell to be "fine dining"? i bet those people in San Angeles have ironcast stomaches if taco bell is the only major restaurant in fast food, if i want real mexican food i go to a local city or local town independent Mexican restaurant.

And they considered Taco Bell to be "fine dining"? It won the fast food wars! All restaurants were named Taco Bell.

It is a fun and very underrated movie. And do you think this movie is more relevant today in it's thing about PC/SJW culture and that it's almost frightening it predicted today?

a few years ago i got into a demolition man loop, i couldn't watch anything else for over a week. great movie, it offers a lot. futuristic world, gadgets, action, guns, fist fights, post-apocalyptic world, comedy, cursing etc. futurama definitely owes a few things to demolition man. escape from l.a. comes close to being a good alternative. i played the video game around that time and bought the comic book and novel adaptions on amazon.

Does anyone hate how movies like Demolition Man have become claimed by Anti-SJWs and they're so fucking smug about it? Half the stuff in it that Raymond Cocteau wants isn't even what SJWs and PC-people actually want. Hell, in the end, John Spartan wants the two sides to reconcile and find a middle ground basically between being an asshole and not being an asshole.
- Smoking is illegal? Fuck that. Preferably just smoke in the designated area. Or vape. - Alcohol, caffeine, contact sports, meat, chocolate, gasoline, illegal? No. - Profanity is illegal and you pay fines? Fuck that. Just don't use racial slurs, thats all. - Sex and abortion is illegal and also pregnancy without a license? Thats the complete OPPOSITE of what SJWs want. Its also EXACTLY what right-wing conservatives want, the group that Anti-SJWs mostly belong to. Repealing Roe vs Wade and punishing young people who have premarital consensual sex and get pregnant and force them to have babies. Fuck that. - All that stuff Edgar Friendly wants to do? Go ahead. None of that stuff is remotely close to what SJWs give a shit about.
