Mine was Mauritshuis, in The Hague I didn't go to the Escher gallery even though I was staying right beside it.
And you?

Other than the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts, of which I have a membership and therefore visit a few times a year, I think the last one was the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa for the Alex Janvier exhibition - an indigenous Canadian abstract painter. Fantastic stuff! www.alexjanvier.com/aa1.html

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, 2008. At the time they had a fascinating exhibit on ancient Greek sculpture. This was in addition to the permanent sculpture galleries elsewhere in the museum. I went there twice during my stay in the city. I think I've been to most of the art museums in Amsterdam, but none in The Hague.

The Frick Museum in New York. I hadn't seen before, nor expecting, so many Gainsborough paintings in one place. The lasting impression was Rembrandt's, 'Polish Rider'. I had never seen anything else by Rembrandt that was similar to this painting. It was quite the revelation.

Thanks Sulla, if you get a chance to go to The Hague, don't hesitate, it's well worth it. I've been to the Metropolitan, but not for many years, sounds like a great experience.

And the gardens are AMAZING! I'd love to go to The Frick one day.

Well i have to be honest i did not like it as it was only modern art. And i don`t like modern art. I mean i knew it would be mostly modern art but i had hoped it would have been some classic art in it
