I got Hooper's "Salem's Lot" lined up this year. It's a repeat, but I'm looking forward to watching it again. Might just dig out the book too. I picked it up awhile ago but never got around to reading it. "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" was one of my favourites from a previous challenge. A nicely creepy film. The novel version of Salem's Lot is easily one of Stephen King's finest works. I would highly recommend you check it out ASAP. Agreed. It's in my top 5 King novels...and I've read a lot of em.

Speaking of Stephen King: Doloroes Claiborne and Apt Pupil - horror movies? Haven't seen them myself. The latter is listed as horror on rottentomatoes so I was gonna go ahead and watch it, unless someone objects.

I don't know if I'd personally consider them horror. Dolores especially is more of a moody drama. It's great but the most horrifying thing about it is a moment with a mirror. Apt Pupil is closer to a Silence of the Lambs type horro. Dealing with mentally on edge persons. Story of a kid who finds out his neighbor was a Nazi and wants to be told everything. He then starts down a dark path and the Nazis old habits reappear. Again both great stories but more dramatic and suspenseful than horror. I'd allow it tho.

Oh, I was planning to see them eventually either way. But if I can add them to the challenge and kill two birds with one stone, even better. Thanks for your thoughts.

Dolores Claiborne is about a woman accused of killing the lady she was working for. Mixed with flashbacks of 30 years earlier when she kills her abusive husband. It's very good. Kathy Bates is phenomenal and the husband, who is in tons of stuff, is also good. Can't recall his name.

Holy shit, Gerald’s Game was amazing! Easily my favorite FTV and will probably remain so until the end. Flanagan’s best. He really is one of the best horror directors working today.

The novels Dolores Claiborne and Geralds Game are strongly tied together in the novels. Both characters show up kind of spiritually in the others story. Very important moments for both happen during the same eclipse in the same general area of the US. Just a cool tidbit. Doubt they could show that in the movie. Haven't seen Gerald's Game yet. It was mostly a memorable book for the 'degloving' scene.

Saw The Lwgend of Hell House...not sure if that stands as one of the original haunted house films but it was pretty good. And a lot of the Scary Movie 2 references make sense now. Lol. Surprised me with who lived and who died too. also makes me want to read the novel from Matheson.

Yes, The Legend Of Hell House is a superb haunted house film; one of the best and scariest among the many British horror movies made in the early 70s.

Got a bit of a movie night on Saturday so I'll probably be adding at least 3-4 to my list.

Really liked Better Watch Out (2016). Funny at times and fairly dark and disturbing at others. Just a really entertaining movie. Recommended. 7.5/10

I am "through" with the most of the Universal Monster Classics, and I gotta say I had a really good time watching them. Sure, not everybody was to turn out as a classic, but some might be worthy a re-watch later on, however I found some new favorites among the bunch and where I thought The Wolf Man (1941) was my pick for the winner and the only one that I felt deserved a rating of 8/10. Now, I am taking a few days off, watching other films from other genres, then I will continue with this callenge and see if I can manage to reach 31 horror related films withn the next few weeks.
Anyway, I am very impressed by the amount of horror titles people are watching, as some numbers are almost unreal. Well, take care and enjoy your horror movies.

Watched the Cabinet of Dr Caligiri today. I'm not normally one to generalize genres or eras of film but I'm not sure if I can enjoy the silent era. This didn't do it for me and I've tried Nosferatu in years past and felt the same way.

Ha, the climax of "Rock N Roll Nightmare" sure is something. Especially how straight-face it can be with all those crazy fx. The director followed it up with another silly demonic glam rocker film "Black Roses".
