The 4th film got awful reviews, theres too much of a gap, the lead star got called out for his abuse, and the international currencies are freefalling.
It will be lucky to make 100 million domestic and 400 million worldwide.

It will be lucky to make 100 million domestic and 400 million worldwide. It all depends on the quality of the product. I would say. 30% or Less Critics Avg. on RT and less than 7 on IMDb fans rating = 500M or Less World Wide Box Office. 31-59% RT Critics Avg. on RT and Between 6.5-7.2 on IMDb fans rating = 600M - 750M World Wide Box Office. 60% Fresh RT Critics Avg. and above a 7 on IMDb fans rating = 800M - 1B World Wide.

This is part of a lucrative Disney franchise, and right now, Disney is on a ROLL. I expect this to earn upwards of 250 million domestic. Probably more. Depp is still a draw, in the right role. And Jack Sparrow fits him like a glove.

Just judging from the trailer, I think it'll be better than the 4th (even though I still enjoyed it). I havn't seen Javier in anything I don't think but he looks great as Salazar.

Even if it falls short of its production budget domestically, it will make more than enough worldwide. Enough of this flop nonsense.

It will do a modest 225 million domestically (give or take) and will do 800+ million overseas. The movie can suck and it will still make money. Pirates rake in cash overseas.

I had to make an account just to reply to you.
I would love to know what youre smoking cause youre fucking hysterical if you think Pirates 5 is doing 100 mill only domestically. Itll do that in the opening weekend itself.

The problem with 4 was the director or scriptwriter.
There's a line in 1 or 2 or 3 where Norrington comments (after the mast collapses) where he asks if Jack plans it or it just happens.
THAT is Jack's magic.
In the last one they made a huge point to set up those moments. No. They just happen. We don't need someone to toss a pastry up so it can fall at an opportune moment.
Bring back Jack's luck of the devil at the right moment & the movie will work

Disney will get $200 million for this. All those zombie killers out there will surely like seeing zombie pirates try to kill things. That's what I got from the trailer anyway.

This will make some good money, might even be one of the biggest grossing films of the year along with Lego Batman, Alien: Covenant, Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Blade Runner 2049, maybe Spider-Man: Homecoming, Justice League, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi

The domestic box office might not be great if the reviews are bad
