Over the years I've heard a lot of people complain that Julie 'the cat' Gaffney doesn't get any playing time in "D2: The Mighty Ducks" (1994)
"She is better than Goldberg"
Okay, first of all maybe. However, Goldberg is the starting goalie. He has the hot hand. Team USA is undefeated and on a winning streak. You don't pull the goalie and maybe disrupt the chemistry of the team.
Second of all, she gets her shot. When Iceland is winning 4-0, they finally pull Goldberg and give Julie a chance. What does she do? She embarrasses Team USA and the coach by attacking the Iceland players because they 'made fun of her'. So what? She should 'show them on the ice', and control her emotions.
Team USA ends up losing 12-1. If she had not got kicked out, played the game, and lets say held Iceland to '0' more points. Team USA loses 4-1 and maybe she starts the rest of the way. Probably gets recognized as the savior of the tournament.
She has the audacity to say "When do I get my chance coach? I came all the way from Maine." I would have said "I gave you a chance, and you embarrassed our team and country. When you put on those colors, you need to act appropriately."
