Once they realize closing the boards was a huge mistake, they'll probably reinstate them.

Sadly, I don't think IMDb is missing us.
They must've calculated the amount of message board traffic and decided we weren't worth saving well in advance. I can't imagine how bare their website must look now, I haven't checked properly since I blocked them on Feb 20th.

It wouldn't surprise me if they made up for it somehow. Economics was never my strongest suit, but I find it hard to believe they can move on so quickly from this. The boards have been going since 2001, whatever the incentive was, no doubt it topped the amount of traffic generated by users. But that's just me guessing. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will probably reinstate the boards if his net worth drops by a cent. Although I think that would leave a lot of us feeling uncertain about our place at IMDb.

I doubt they would care simply because i am sure the higher ups took that into consideration when deciding to close the boards.
like they probably figured a good portion of the message board traffic was spam and was just wasting their bandwidth and i am sure millions of people will still use the site so even if they lost a portion of the regular on the message boards it won't even be noticeable for them in the big picture.
so unless somehow they can generate $$$ from people using the message boards they probably could care less.
but if they do reinstate the boards hopefully they restore things back to the way they were prior to them taking the boards down especially for the per movie board discussion as you occasionally had some quality posts there. but the 'Film General' and the like can be reset since it's largely spam. but speaking of this stuff... if they reinstate the boards they need to make it better than it was with at least some moderators who can clean up the heavy spammers and have a better setup as it appeared easy for naeemak etc to create multiple accounts to spam the boards and we don't want that crap back as that i don't miss at all. so far these IMDb2 boards seem to just generally have better quality discussion as you don't see much people acting up around here thankfully.

Yep. They don't miss us and have no intention of bringing back the boards anytime soon.

Hope so. Haven't clicked on them since they closed the boards and only use Wiki to read up on a film.
