As an Irishman, I have seen many Irish movies and have to say the majority of them are solid pieces of work. Actors ranging from Cillian Murphy to Brendan Gleeson, Liam Neeson to Colin Farrell, Gabriel Byrne to Pierce Brosnan, Michael Fassbender(he counts) Liam Cunningham, Colm Meany, Brenda Fricker and the late Richard Harris, plus, many, many more.
Some of my favourites would be - My Left Foot, The Field, In The Name Of The Father and Breakfast On Pluto
Name some of your favourite Irish films... Perhaps there are some I have yet to see.

"The Dead" (John Huston), based on a James Joyce short story, is excellent.

Always been a big fan of the Butcher Boy and Into the west. And the Barrytown trilogy of movies are good.

The only Irish movie I've every seen is Cal (1984) about a young man, a member of the IRA, having an affair with a middle-aged Catholic woman (played by Helen Mirren). Haven't seen it since the 80s, but from what I remember it was pretty good. Quite depressing, though.

I had to search for it, and I guess it has more of an "american" feel to it, at least acting/story wise, but I do enjoyed the locations/castle used in the film, and while maybe not a classic, I still have a soft spot for High Spirits (1988) starring Peter O'Toole, Daryl Hannah, Steve Guttenberg, Liam Neeson, Beverly D'Angelo, Jennifer Tilly, Peter Gallagher and Martin Ferrero in some of the leading parts.

Another great little gem is War of the Buttons (1994), a film I enjoyed very much and catched on norwegian televison in the winter of 2007, late at night. Did not know what to expect, but the story and acting was very good, and it told the story of two rival boy/children gangs, and included a lot of comedy and drama.

I am glad to have found this section for International films, but what happened between february and June of 2017? Since there is only two threads, and a bit of a gap between february 7th and june 21st, was it taken down, and recently brought back? I can not remember seeing a own section for International cinema, or at least not until today, so anyway thanks for letting us having one.

I like Neil Jordan's movies with Stephen Rea. These include the crime movies 'Angel (1982) & 'The Crying Game' (1992).
