My top Five Ranks in This Order:
1. "Groundhog Day" (1993) : I believe this is the best balance Murray walks between his 1980's comedy and modern intellectual high brow humor. If you asked me 5 years ago, I would have said "Lost in Translation", but the more I watch "Groundhog Day" the more I see the brilliance in his balancing act.
2. "Lost in Translation" (2003) : Bill Murray got robbed of an Oscar. Nobody watches "Mystic River" for Sean Penn. But Murray's performance is Iconic and still talked about. He is so good as an actor in this film. Sofia Coppla brings out the best in him.
3. "Ghostbusters" (1984) : This is the best Comedy of all time IMHO. The first 45 minutes of "Ghostubsters" is perfect. The group of guys, their chemistry, their interaction, jokes, acting, everything. The second half is still quite good.
4. "Stripes" (1981) : Harold Ramis and Bill Murray define what a buddy comedy is in this. I know Aykroyd and Belushi were doing "Blues Brothers" but to me, this personifies what a duo/buddy comedy should be. If the final act hadn't have been so far removed from the first 2 acts, it may have went down in history as one of the best 1980s comedies.
5. "Caddyshack" (1980) I know most people would put Wes Anderson films on this list, but I love Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, the whole 1980s comedy.
Honorable Mentions: "What about Bob?" "Rushmore" "Life Aquatic"

Caddyshack - One of the most beloved and quotable comedies of all time.
Murray was great as the demented groundskeeper. Then again, everyone was great in that film including Ted Knight, Rodney Dangerfield and Chevy Chase.

What About Bob. But I also love Meatballs. I have to say. Meatballs is the greatest film of one man carrying an entire feature on his back. It is literally the Bill Murray show. If Murray isn't in "Meatballs" it's reduced to a b-movie made for TV. Those supporting actors/actresses couldn't carry a studio film. So in that respect, he was AMAZING in that film.

He was brilliant in his few scenes in Ed Wood.
Favourite film of his overall: Ghostbusters.

"Ghost Busters" is the most rewatchable for me. "Stripes", "What About Bob?", and "Groundhog Day" are all great as well.

While he does not have a big role, my favorite film with him in it that I have seen is The Grand Budapest Hotel.
As far as performances go, I believe that Groundhog Day is his best (from what I've seen).

I liked him a lot in Where the Buffalo Roam and loved his performance in Lost in Translation.

Ghostbusters (1984). Heh, I can't remember a time in my life when I didn't love Ghostbusters.
I would probably follow that up with Groundhog Day, What About Bob?, Stripes, Caddyshack...
