What's happened to salmon in the last few years? It's lost so much of its pungency. Farm-raised pushing out sea-caught?

...I agree that farm raised salmon is almost flavorless. It requires marinade in order to give it some oomph...
Another farm raised fish I used to be able to buy for $1 apiece is the smoked chub. Now they sell for $18 per lb...!!!!
