When you think about Star Wars, what is the one moment/scene in the franchise you instantly think of? You can choose any moment you would like from the movies (Episodes 1-8, Rogue One) so far. I'm just curious what everyone instantly thinks of when they think about Star Wars and what it means to them. I'll start us off: For me, I think of Episode 6 when Luke casts his lightsaber to the side and refuses The Emperor. It's easy to be bad but to choose to be good takes strength and courage. I think that's why Luke resonates with me - why I like him so much. He chooses to be good, to seek truth, and to hold a positive outlook on life despite all that he endures throughout the trilogy. Growing up, everyone else always liked Han, Boba Fett, and Vader. I was like, "What?! No...Luke Skywalker guys! Luke Skywalker!" He'll always remain my favorite character. What is your Star Wars moment/scene?

Not my favourite scene, but the battle of Hoth was what got me into Star Wars. And the first act of ROTJ was awesome. I loved Jabba and the Rancor

Binary Sunset. In that brief scene, even as an 11 year old kid, I knew there was something more to this than anything I had ever seen. I didn't know what at the time, I just knew it inside.

And i remember not knowing what to expect. I think it was the first time i was really interested in a movie. The first scene with the tantive being shot amazed me and the droids and all that was like what more can you do in 5 minutes? And it was Vader! My head exploded. In 5 minutes it was going to burst several times, but here it exploded. I was hooked forever. That feeling of discovery and what's in store for me in the next scene, and sometimes is a vader reveal. Amazing stuff. (It exploded several more times through the years my head, but that was the first)

That's great! Thanks for the elaboration. I always enjoy hearing what draws people into Star Wars. I used to go to the Star Wars conventions and one of the best parts of going was talking to complete strangers about Star Wars. I'm not implying anything when I say this but I am legitimately surprised to hear no one state any of the PT scenes yet. Those movies are old enough now that those who grew up with those over the OT, would be impacted by them. The same goes with the ST. In the next decade or so, people will have been born/grown up with that being the new Star Wars movies. I am interested to see which scene/moment will be "their scene" in the end. Perhaps it won't even be that trilogy but the PT or the OT. I'm very curious to see how that works out.

That's why I loved the EU so much. But for me being Canon is important, you know, even if it's imperfect, as life often is. I'm enjoying the st in the same vein and although I'm sad that the EU is not Canon anymore I feel I enjoy the new novels and movies knowing it really is the continuation of the stories, imperfections and all. I feel that it's the same for a lot of people. But, the OT will always be special. Even for new fans those Blu-rays will be magical. I know of a lot of people that loved tfa but became fans seeing the OT (same for the PT) what they don't realize is by the moment they want to know more they are already hooked, the OT just seals the deal. That's why they are so special, but that's why the PT and ST also are, because with all their faults they drive people to the OT.

That's still the best cantina scene in the franchise! Episode 2 and Episode 7 had cantina scenes but Episode 4 does leave the biggest impression.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, followed by the first opening crawl.

A lot of it was garbage but there was some great content mixed in there. It got confusing pre-Disney because George Lucas' only rule was that as long as it didn't conflict with the movies, he was fine with the stories. However, then he had a lot of stories (novels, comics, games) that did clash with his movies. I always wondered why he didn't just keep stories like that away from the franchise. Either with him approving everything or with others hired in his place. It seemed like the only responsible thing to do. I guess that's one good thing about Disney taking over - they're looking to create one continuous continuity now where everything is tied and supports one another in a single timeline.

For me it came in Star Wars: A New Hope when Princess Leia and Han Solo start bickering durng a shootout with Imperial Stormtroopers. "Maybe you'd like it better back in your cell, your Highness!" "Into the garbage shute, flyboy!" "Wonderful girl! Either I'm going to kill her or I'm beginning to like her!"

Unlike the others who have posted, your scene relies less on visuals/music and more on actual dialogue between characters. Since you chose that scene, what did you think of Han and Leia's scenes together in Episode 7? Did you enjoy them?

I would say it's probably uncommon but I haven't seen Rogue One, so I figure I don't have room to talk.

This one: nothing, for me, captures the inspirational, irrepressible spirit of the original trilogy as perfectly as this one shot:
