Another list thread... Share any number of romantic, platonic, familial and adversarial 'ships/favorites you might have.
(Bolded are the ones I really care about.)
Romantic:
1. Bangel
2. Dangel(us)
3. Fresley/Weslyria
4. Sprusilla
5. Weslah
Platonic:
1. Angel/Wesley
2. Fangel
3. Frangel
4. Faithsley
5. Angel/Lorne
Familial:
1. Fang Gang
2. Fanged Four
3. Angel/Connor
4. Buffy/Giles
5. Faith/Mayor
Adversarial:
1. Angel/Angelus
2. Bangelus
3. Angel(us)/Holtz
4. Angel/W&H (Co-category for Lilah, Lindsey and Holland.)
5. Angel/Mayor
Wacky fic I admit to having been exposed to: Spuffel
Notps (those pairings you just don't like at all):
1. Buffy/Parker (Well, obviously.)
2. Killow
3. Ruffy
4. Wesley/Virginia & Buffy/Scott (Those pairings people pretty much forget ever happened and were barely there anyway.)
5. Groodelia (Groo is a bit too Hercules/Xena-reject for my tastes and Cordy makes a lot of unthinking comments to Angel when Groo is around. The "dumbass" comment when Angel just saved Groo's life by overcoming his demon, not even noticing that Angel is having massive issues with his vampirism in Pylea--Wesley was always more keyed into that, Cordy's tendency to assume that the perfect happiness clause was just a sex trigger--again, Wesley is the one to refute that and stick up for what Buffy was to Angel, not noticing that he's the one in the shadows not getting to join the sunny hug--again, only Wesley noticed, asking him to get the magical prophylactic and then heaping all the credit for Angel's heroics on Groo are just so shitty.)
...end of the easy pickings nobody really cares about...
6. Cangel (See my above issues. Just ruined the platonic friendship, makes no logical sense why Angel would think of entering into it due to it having 100% of the same immortality/curse problems and had to actually destroy both characters to make them fit--the creation of dork!Angel and saint!Cordy. Thankfully, Angel reverts back to his real self when Darla and Wesley replace Cordy as his second lead. Cordy's character rot started around the Pylea arc and post-Mexico saint!Cordy was so awful that hijacked evil!Cordy was actually refreshing. It's also incredibly manipulative because the friendship was only destroyed by the romantic angle to make Angel having to kill Cordy at the end of season 4, as per the original plan, somehow more painful, which is actually insulting to their friendship.)
7. Spuffy (I watched BtVS backwards with the last seasons first the first time, so I actually 'shipped this originally, but it's gotten more and more distasteful as I get older with Buffy's character becoming more and more unlikable and regressed as a result. She was so much more mature, selfless and lovable as a teenager with Angel bringing out the absolute best qualities in her, even when it went horribly wrong. Those qualities Buffy used to have are what inspired Angel and were more prevalent in him later than her. My preference greatly switched after I became more familiar with the rest of the series and franchise, but this damaged goods is still one of the better parts of the last seasons, mostly because of Spike. But he doesn't really grow up until Angel has worked on him half a season, he stops doing good for a girl, instead wanting to do it for himself, and especially wakes up after Fred dies. Buffy actually HARMED ensouled William's development in season 7, because a lot of season 5 became about undoing what she did to him by wanting him as her soulless muscle who wasn't crying on shoulders and instead wrapped himself in the coat of a dead Slayer again. She essentially picked the soulless demon over the human man. Buffy is at fault for not supporting Spike becoming William again and not supporting him the way she did Angel when he was struggling with guilt. Even the soulful version of this 'ship is a mess.)
