Really enjoyed the movie. It was a very fun and entertaining movie, to me easily the best of three Thor movies so far.
There was definitely more humour in it than the previous two, not to the extent of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies but a noticeable amount more.
Visually it was one of the best looking MCU movies so far, between the look, the SFX and the sets it's comparable to the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
Between that and the soundtrack (which was also good) the movie definitely had an 80's vibe.
Hela was a decent enough villain, unlike Malekith she at least had a personality but once again as seems to be with he MCU villains there wasn't a huge amount of focus on the character. She wasn't as good a villain as the two other MCU villains this year Ego and Vulture.
One thing that I gotta point out is that in the trailer when Thor throws the hammer at Hela and she destroys it, that happened in an alley way....in the movie the same thing happens but it was an open field.
There's also another thing that that was edited a certain way in the trailer for spoiler purposes.
Probably the biggest surprise was seeing major A list actor in the movie in a stage play so take notice of that because my friend had no idea until I told him.
Amongst other superhero movies this year's it was better than Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Wonder Woman and Spider-man Homecoming. It's hard to compare it to Logan because that's a completely different kind of movie.

How was the action? Did they at least allow Thor to shine in his own movie?

Oh and for anyone interested in the whole timeline stuff, they said this movie takes place 2 years after Avengers Age of Ultron. So it's up to date with the current day, handily explaining why Thor wasn't anywhere near Earth for Civil War. Too buys doing offworld stuff and now this.

The trailer paints the film as a comedy, but we see Hela besieged Asgard and cause lots of death and destruction. Is it taken seriously at all? Or is it still joked about? 2. How was Surtur? Did they do him any Justice? 3. Any mention of Beta Ray Bill? 4. Are the post credit scenes any good?

How was the action? Did they at least allow Thor to shine in his own movie? It was good and there was a lot more of it. It wasn't the most memorable final battle, the MCU movies do the seem to have the greatest battles but there was good scenes here and there. Thor got a more deserving fight with Hulk this time around compared to the Avengers. They also powered Thor up quite a bit too so he's probably the most powerful superhero in the MCU now. Also in response to the other thread, no Lady Sif was not in the movie nor was she mentioned at all.

It's sort of taken seriously but not overly seriously, not like Zod attempting to take over Earth in Man of Steel or anything. There's a couple jokes that involve the character but most of the jokes are kept away from that part of the movie. 2. I have no idea what the character is like in the comics. He looks the part and he's giant in the same way, incredibly powerful too but he's not in the movie that much, maybe about 5 minutes worth. 3. No nothing obvious unless there was some small Easter egg anywhere but nothing direct. 4. Ehhhh they're alright. There were two and the second one was a contained one that didn't lead to anything going forward, probably not worth staying through the whole credits just to see. The first one will clearly lead to something in Infinity War though. If you've seen the leaked trailer for the movie then it'll probably be the cause for why Thor was floating around in space like we saw.

What would you rate it out of 10? Probably an 8/10. It is to the previous Thor movies what Captain America Winter Soldier was to the first Captain America, so significantly better.

The Dark World ended with Loki sitting on the throne impersonating Odin. Is this at all addressed? And if so, spoil it for me, please.

At the end of Dark World, Loki sent Odin to Earth, over the time between that movie and this one because he's been away from Asgard it's made Odin grow weak and he dies which then allows Hela to come out of imprisonment.

On the subject of Beta Ray Bill there was some easter egg after all, which was seen in the trailers. Looks like he was one of the Champions in the past.
