I was surprised to see them, pretty young, in several 1963 episodes of TV series Brian Henderson's Bandstand. They not just did songs, but also told jokes in several episodes.

I did not know that! tbh, I was only aware of them starting back in about 1971, with the song "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?" I became more aware of them after that.
