Ann Dusenberry was born on September 13th, 1952 in Tucson, Arizona, to Bruce and Katie Dusenberry. Little is known about her background, her present or her future, perhaps because her entry into film was so unusual and resourceful. It's said that Dusenberry dated a trucker who did courier work for Hollywood studios in the mid-1970s so she got some help circulating an envelope containing a photograph and her resume at horror haven Universal Studios. In her early years, Dusenberry hit several home runs in television. She featured in Jerry Thorpe's television movie 'The Possessed' (1977) with Harrison Ford, portrayed Louisa May Alcott's iconic character Amy March for the miniseries 'Little Women' (1978), performed overtime in Gordon Hessler's aviation drama 'The Secret War Of Jackie's Girls' (1980) and starred opposite Don Johnson as Elvis Presley in Gus Trikonis' popularity contest 'Elvis And The Beauty Queen' (1981). She maintained an affiliation to primetime tv slots through a combination of instinct, perseverance, slog and talent. Dusenberry finally became a featured star as the comedy centre rose in the 1980s. Having studied theatre and the arts for four years, at the University of Arizona and Occidental College, she'd been preparing for this moment for some time. Her work with the National Lampoon franchise elevated her to the next level, as she became friends with fellow comediennes Wendy Schaal of Chicago, Illinois and Teresa Ganzel of Toledo, Ohio. Then one day soon, she inexplicably walked away from the movies. Dusenberry still performs regularly in theatre and she's married to ace composer Brad Fiedel, but it appears her cinema days are well and truly at an end. That's the way the cookie crumbles. She is a hilarious lady. Ann Dusenberry & the cast of 'Little Women' :

Thanks for the info on Ann Dusenberry petrolino . I know her best from Jaws 2, a movie of which I am a huge fan. She delivers the line that finally lets everyone in the movie know what the audience has known all along, that there's another shark off Amity eating folks. "Sh-sh-sh-SHAAAARRRKKKKK!!!" And you truly feel her terror, from that line, and her cowering in a state of shock inside the boat, and you know that girl ain't never gonna be right again after seeing her boyfriend attacked and eaten. This is from a recent Jaws 2 cast reunion, Ann is second from the right: I have seen Cutter's Way and Basic Training, but she doesn't really stand out for me in those like she did in Jaws 2.

Hi Lebowskidoo. Those are some great pictures, thanks. I actually am intending to watch all the 'Jaws' sequels again as I picked up a dvd box-set with the three of them. Last seen 'Jaws 2', I don't know, maybe 5 years ago ... I've seen 'Jaws 3-D" the most. I'm also a fan of Donna Wilkes' film work - she made several horror films early in her career and headlined the 'Angel' street crime series ...

petrolino, not sure who suffered the most life-long trauma as a result of that sailing trip in 1978, Tina or Jackie. Jackie sure screamed realistically for most of the last half hour of the movie, Donna Wilkes was great. Jackie was only visiting her cousin, Brooke. Betcha she never returned to Amity ever again! I saw her in Angel on cable TV back in the 80's and really liked that movie. Was disappointed they recast for the sequels, I think I only ever got around to seeing the second one.

Betsy Russell stepped in for the second film 'Avenging Angel' (1985) which couldn't recapture the magic of the original. I've also seen the third film, 'Angel III : The Final Chapter' (1988), which comes as part of the 'Angel - Triple' dvd box-set. I've not seen the fourth entry 'Angel 4 : Undercover' (1994). It's amazing that 4 different actresses adopted the 'Angel' street moniker for this franchise within a ten-year span.

Nice to see an entry on her. Her role in Jaws 2 was quite memorable. She was also under consideration for the Laurie Strode role in Halloween.
It's a shame she didn't have more of a career because she did seem to have a lot of screen presence.

petrolino Just learned that those scenes of Jackie screaming bloody murder in Jaws 2 were taken from Jackie's reaction to Bob's death. "But, Bob never died," you say. This is true, but he was slated to die in the finale, and Donna Wilkes' bloodcurdling reaction screams were too good to waste and were spliced in where applicable. Bob's death got cut so they could avoid a bad rating for too much blood and violence. If you think about it, Jaws 2 has probably the least amount of blood of all four Jaws movies. Bob is missing from the aerial shots of the teens on Cable Junction, but he got spliced in there saying, " Thank you, thank you" after he made it too shore. All of this I learned recently from a Jaws 2 Facebook group where a few of the crew shared their stories. Sorry, Donna Wilkes appears to have highjacked this Ann Dusenberry thread!

Aha! Jaws II, that's why the name sounded familiar. "yeah Yeah the shark is attacking again, but look at those american girls!!!" someone said at a small Swedish town cinema when I watched it, and we young men with testosterone looked that way instead. Dusenberry in "Life with Lucy", a sad swan song for Lucy

Great franchise info, Lebowskidoo, it's appreciated. You've also reminded me to get in gear and watch the 'Jaws' sequels I bought on dvd as I've not done so yet. I think Donna Wilkes & Ann Dusenberry make a perfect combo!!

I recall her from JAWS 2 of course - and THE POSSESSED - but mostly from a couple she made with John Heard
HEART BEAT - the Kerouac biopic - as a beat groupie
CUTTER'S WAY - as a murder victim's sister in this neglected paranoid thriller
I believe she was singled out for praise in one of those CUTTER I think - by no less than Pauline Kael (I'm not at home so cannot check her reviews).
Also she was very funny in the National Lampoon movie - her segment was a Harold Robbins parody called THE SUCCESS WANTERS if memory serves
Always hoped she'd graduate to bigger things - but it was not to be - but nice to be reminded of her though - cheers
