THE BORROWERS 5/10 It seemed like KARI-GURASHI NO ARIETTI (THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETTY) was going to be a more quiet and intimate adaptation of Mary Norton's novel than THE BORROWERS. Unfortunately, it's a boring adaptation with little to no conflict and a lame villain. 4/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian).

I enjoyed the Borrowers. Although I found the original story charming as a child, I can see that it would not make a particularly good feature film as it was, so I didn't mind that they had given it a more exciting plot. Also as an adult the. Borrower books have a major problem for me - I simply can't aee how they are going to survive, with so few of them apparently left. So the film doesn't have that problem. 7/10
I haven't see the other one, there was a good tv series some yeArs ago though, probably a medium better suited to the books as they are.
