"Autumn Affair" was a soap opera aired on Australian television from 1958 to 1959, for a total of 156 episodes, of which 154 survive at the National Film and Sound Archive. Only a few have been digitised so far though.
It was a 15-minute show aired in Sydney at 8:45AM three times a week, and although it aired on commercial TV, it aired without commercials. The main purpose of the show was to gain experience in local drama production. The scripts were adapted from radio scripts. It had a modern urban setting, a refreshing change of pace from the typical outback setting seen in Australian films of the period.
The series was repeated several times after its run ended, including national repeats in 1962 and 1964, and was seen on one rural station as late as 1967. Perhaps the first soap to have reruns?
Here's a poor quality upload someone did of a random episode. I realise it isn't great drama, but I still feel all the old kinescopes of the show should be digitised.
