It seemed like some thought Jigsaw's opening weekend was underwhelming. But the budget for the film is 10 million and its already grossed 30 million, so wouldn't that make it a success?

Oh I'm positive they'll get their money back. I'm guessing they're saying it's underwhelming because they were hoping to ride that wave left by IT.

success is objective and interpretive. many people find shows like how I met your mother and the big bang theory to be wonderful and therefore, successful. I don't find them wonderful, forget funny, so it baffles my mind as to how they are successful.
in terms of movies, if someone likes scifi movies, that doesn't mean they like ALL scifis. I like the 'first' three starwars but could not sit through the 'second' three -- the prequels. they missed the target by miles if you ask me. I liked the star wars movie with that orange ball as r2's cousin or something but i didn't love it. they killed my favorite character and then the actress playing my other favorite character drops dead.

For a sequel that has been released 7 years after the previous installment, a $34 million take on a budget of $10 is very good.

I will get the the DVD...but it is shown too late here since I only go to the movies directly after work. The fate of a commuter.

That seems great for a film with a 10 million budget.
