Iāll keep watching...for as long as Katheryn Winnick/Lagertha is still in the show (unless they manage to create another strong female character like Lagertha and cast an actress in the role who is as awesome as Katheryn Winnick).
Personally, Iām looking forward to seeing what sort of animal Lagertha gets a hold of next (sheās already had a cat and an owl).

**somewhat spoilery below if you haven't seen the previous season** Hirundo, weāve gotten a shorter/different version of the trailer on TV here to the one you linked to. What got my attention was Lagertha saying āNow I can die.ā ā which had me worried (then again, I worry every season about Lagertha being killed off). I then watched that^ trailer you linked to and it really hasnāt done anything to alleviate my fears. Then again, theyāre almost being *too* obvious about Ivar killing her. He goes on about holding a grudge against her for offing his mother (nevermind the fact that when Aslaug bit the dust, she did it with a smile on her face, quite clearly indicating that she was either expecting it, or that she knew what would come of it). I was surprised so many people held that action against Lagertha ā especially considering probably a fair percentage of those same people never liked Aslaug beforehand anyway. At this point, itād almost be more unexpected if Lagertha survives/lives on, since theyāve been rather heavy-handed with pretty much everything pointing to her death. Iām not sure whether Iād still be into the show if she was killed off. No other female character in the series can hold a candle to her (try as some might). And, of course, she got the best line in the trailer: āYou can try.ā (in regards to Ivar swearing to kill her). Iām both interested in this season...and kind of dreading it. I hope Michael Hirst hasnāt fallen in love with writing for Ivar so much that he has him just kill everyone and never get beaten (this happens a lot with characters in shows ā the writers just enjoy writing for them so much/love the actors so much to the detriment of the storytelling). It will be interesting seeing Jonathan Rhys Meyers in this show (who I'm sure you're looking forward to, Hirundo ), since it'll be only the second show that I've seen him in (the first being The Tudors, which I only recently finished watching for the first time on DVD not too long ago). Here's hoping Lagertha gets a new pet to add to her menagerie she's already collected.

Watched the season premier last night! This season is going to be awesome as always. There are so many different things going on that they can explore. I can't wait until next week.

I finally got around to watching the first two eps of s5, and I must admit, Jonathan Rhys Meyers was...not bad in it. If he keeps his performance on that level I shall endevour to tolerate him throughout the rest of the season. That scene with the kid crying in the church, though? Damn, that cry was harrowing. Made me sort of side with the English a little bit.

I don't suppose someone can explain where these holy warriors were during the previous 4 seasons? Sacrificing those kids was not cool!

I'm quite disappointed, maybe because I utterly dislike Ivar and The English are quite bland (the queen is the only one I like). Well, this new warrior bishop is something knew but also a bit to fanatic...and when it comes to religous nut-jobs: Flocki, oh Flocki...what has become of you. This pseudo-phliosopic/mystic stuff on Iceland is horrible.
The only two charcaters I like and root for are Lagertha and Ubbe, and it is a comfort to know that Ubbe and Guthrum (the son of Jarl Borg, with Bjƶrn as Ersatz-father) will lead the great heathen army in the end, not fucking Ivar or this other brother. Ivar simply vanished in the historical records. It is not even kown what excactly happened to this psycho.
And ths king Harald sucks too...I can undertand who woman are like - meh, please leave me alone.
Bythis time, I'm more into "The last Kingdom" which plays a bit more in the future (adult Alfred) and there is no fucking mystic but better and more compelling stor telling. Most lickley due to the better source material.
Anyway: the first three episode (or two) were often a drag, and this Ivar is nothing without the plot armour of the writers: all his ideas work - of course - perfectly out, nobody kills him even if he is alone facing 30 to 40 men.

Of the English characters I don't mind Judith and Aethelwulf, and I do think Bishop Heahmund shows some promise, but we'll see what happens in the next few eps. I've watched some episodes of The Last Kingdom, but I wasn't that into it. I did love this scene, though.

I agree, I havenāt been overly interested in it so far. I think part of what made Floki so interesting to watch was his interaction with the other characters. When heās just by himself...Iām just not that invested in what heās up to (itās about as interesting as Bjornās quest involving the bear ā and I was on the bearās side).
Ivar simply vanished in the historical records. It is not even kown what excactly happened to this psycho.
Though this^ might mean that they can do almost anything they want with him, which suggests they may keep him around long past when heās outlived his usefulness on the show.
Ivar is nothing without the plot armour of the writers: all his ideas work - of course - perfectly out, nobody kills him even if he is alone facing 30 to 40 men.
It really does seem that way. It feels like Hirst is so fond of Ivar the character and the actor who portrays him that heāll just have him keep succeeding, killing whoever, even though in the latest episode I watched Ivar was just sitting on the ground and roaring at people whilst covered in bloodā¦and all I could think was, āSomebody just SHOOT HIM already!ā ā someone *did*, but sadly it was in the one part of him he couldnāt feel any pain (his leg). Heās really *not* as intimidating as he thinks he is/the show likes to make him out to be. He could actually quite easily be defeated...but as you said, I think his plot armour is too strong.
And ths king Harald sucks too
Yeah, he bores me.
The only two charcaters I like and root for are Lagertha and Ubbe,
Lagertha and Ubbe are really the only two characters I like at this point, too.
Nice to see Lagertha and Ubbe getting so much love here.

Iām surprised to find someone else who doesnāt mind Judith ā everywhere I read comments for the show, most seem to not be too fond of her. I think sheās done well to last this long (shame about the ear though ā that scene where she lost it still stands out in my memory as a particularly effective scene/moment).
The biggest crime of this season so far is...there hasnāt been nearly enough Lagertha! Seriously, Katheryn Winnick has her named bumped up to being the first in the opening credits...yet she wasnāt even in this second episode that I saw at all. Thankfully, she did appear in the preview for next weeks. Need more Lagertha!

And here's a sneak peek from episode 6: Heheh, the most interesting to me in that^ clip was seeing Adam Copeland/Edge and Kris Holden-Reid in the same scene. Haven't seen them in anything since Haven and Lost Girl finished, so it'll be fun seeing them in the Vikings universe.
