Straight from the horse's mouth, this tale of friendship, love, trust and betrayal tells the story of Black Beauty, a beautiful stallion who goes from owner to owner, some kind, some downright cruel. Along the way, he suffers harsh mistreatment and sees other horses also go through the same. Throughout everything, he never loses his kind heart and generous spirit. This heartrending tale should be on every horse lover's list of movies to watch.

This was one of my favorite books as a child, and I'd long given up hope that anyone would ever make a satisfactory movie version, until this one came along. The racing scene, with the soundtrack dominated by the horse's desperate breathing, was particularly haunting; anyone who enjoys the "sport" of horse racing should see this scene. Great movie.

Can anyone hazard a guess how much time passed between the time Black Beauty and Ginger were sold to the Wexmires and the end of the movie, when Joe rescued him. Obviously, at least a decade had passed since Joe was a grown man, even during the fair where Beauty saw him. I'm guessing maybe 15 years passed. He might have been with the Wexmires for three years, then various other owners for five or so, then the Barkers for three to four years, and then the last two at the grain dealer before Joe found him at the auction.
