I started thinking the scene in the trailer where Snoke is torturing Rey, perhaps this is part of a vision? I think u rite.

From IGN:
Disney and Lucasfilm held a special screening in Tokyo to show members of the media the first 13 minutes of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. IGN Japan's chief editor Daniel Robson was among those who got to see the footage, and based on his impressions, it's quite intense.
"The opening scene is a real rush – the film kicks into bombastic action fast, and there is some humor in there too," Robson said on Twitter. He also had an opportunity to speak to Rian Johnson about the footage and said The Last Jedi director told him the film's opening "sets the tone for the whole movie."

From IGN: Disney and Lucasfilm held a special screening in Tokyo to show members of the media the first 13 minutes of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. IGN Japan's chief editor Daniel Robson was among those who got to see the footage, and based on his impressions, it's quite intense. "The opening scene is a real rush – the film kicks into bombastic action fast, and there is some humor in there too," Robson said on Twitter. He also had an opportunity to speak to Rian Johnson about the footage and said The Last Jedi director told him the film's opening "sets the tone for the whole movie." Here's the full footage description, and quite honestly it sounds awesome. There's general spoilers but nothing specific. From Reddit: -There was no opening crawl or logo/ title screen or opening theme. It just starts straight into the action. We do, however get the traditional shot of a ship and a planet. The action we see seems to take place probably less than 30 minutes to an hour (EDIT: max one day) after Starkiller Base exploded, so I don't see why there would even be a crawl? What would they put in it? Pretty much nothing has changed since the end of TFA. (EDIT: Since the majority of posters seem fixated on the lack of a crawl, it's been pointed out that the crawls are usually omitted from screenings like this. I was not aware of that, as this was my first screening of something of this magnitude. It's not something to get worked up over. There will most likely be a crawl for the full movie, but for the life of me, unless it's just a basic recap of TFA, I don't see the reason for one as they're addressing a lot of what would be in it right away through the action, and show-not-tell is always the better option. I, personally, could go either way. Happy if there is one, but also fine if there isn't.) -Can confirm that about 99% of other script leaks are fake based on the fact that they all contain/discuss a character who dies in the opening scene. (I'm not going to say who, but it was a very poignant scene, given that we only see them for about 30 seconds when it happens. Extremely well done!) -The score was masterful: unobtrusive, and REALLY built up the tension in the action scenes. I can't wait to hear more of it! -There is a bit of unexpected humor in it. It's basically the Star Wars equivalent of a "your mom" joke at another character's expense. I found it entertaining, but I'm sure some will think it was a bit out of place, given the seriousness of all the action surrounding it. -There is no F-ing around. The action starts right away. The first of many massive space battles (I say the first of many because the first 10 mins has a lot of things we've already seen from the trailers, official photos, BTS reels, and tv spots, BUT much of what wasn't shown becomes obvious that it's from several separate battles that occur later in the film) opens up within 30 seconds or less of the movie starting. -Kylo Ren is not in the first scenes. -The shot of Leia looking relieved, aboard the Resistance Cruiser (in one of the TV ads) is not a response to Kylo's TIE fly-by as we were led to believe. We could already suss out a bit of the misdirection from the trailers in just these first few scenes. -We've actually already seen a good deal of the opening in all of the officially released media so far, the only thing lacking was context. So it's not actually all that spoilery. It is very exciting to see it all come together though, and you can already start to see how some plot lines are going to resolve, just based on what we have seen and what wasn't in those opening scenes. We also already know that, again, a lot of things in the trailer were cut. (For example, we did NOT see Rey handing Luke the saber from up on the clifftop. So unless that's shown as a flashback later, it's possibly been cut. T___T We also did not see Finn being wheeled/floated down the hallway in an evacuation, either. What we saw seemed to take place after a point where those scenes would have been relevant, so it's hard to say.)

Good to hear (almost) all of the leaks are false so this will be an unexpected ride for all of us. I'm especially excited to hear the positive response to the soundtrack. TFA soundtrack served its purpose, but it didn't stand out. I'm ready for new iconic Star Wars music and maybe The Last Jedi can deliver in that aspect.

Agreed about the soundtrack, sounds like it's better here. Hopefully we'll get something as majestic as 'Across the Stars', 'Binary Sunset' or 'Duel of the Fates' which are my three favorite pieces from the saga. It also sounds like a lot of the trailer footage is from the beginning scene so hopefully there's still a lot we haven't seen in the promotional material. I guess we'll all find out in just a week.

From that description above above, it sounds like the film will start with an action sequence of some sort - this was something I was afraid of. Although it's somewhat curious the film starts somewhere else before going to Luke & Rey - at least that what I gather from the description
