The most abysmal villain was not the Thor2 dark elf, he was just generic and forgettable as most others. Worse were Whiplash (even the actor bitched about how bad he was), then Ultron, and as absolute bottom of the barrel dweller undisputedly the baddie in Guardians (Ronan) who actually got distracted by a dance off and defeated by a magic stone, online comedy gold after all these years lol. It is literally impossible to get lower than this. If Steppenwolf comes close to this the film has a huge credibility problem. Nah, all of those you mentioned were just bland at worse. The actual most abysmal villains were villains like Enchantress and Eisenberg Lex. They were the kind of villains that made you wince everytime you saw them on screen.

And that's in the 30's now. They're both terrible. I know you were trying to compare it to TDW before, but I think it's pretty safe to say now, it's way worse than any of the 17 MCU films. Well I won't know that personally until I see it. It might have worse reviews but I may not think it's the worse of them all or maybe audiences in general. Man of Steel has worse reviews than them all but I still think that's way better than most of the MCU movies. Which do you believe is worse food: something that tastes so bland that it's almost tasteless? Or something that's so awful that it's forever burned in your memory as the most horrible tasting food you've every tasted?

I disagree that EisenLex was as bad as Enchantress. EisenLex suffered from the script problems more than anything. Millenial-douchebag-Lex isn't a terrible concept, and it worked in scenes like the Party (I still say that entire scene was the small moment where all of the characters worked and worked well) But the monologuing awfulness of the Peach Tea scene was more the fault of the writing. Enchantress was a bad character concept, bad performance, bad CGI and bad writing all in one terrible package.

Interesting question.... probably the awful food because you at least get to taste something. It'd also be memorable so you'd be able to get a fun conversation out of it with someone. It'd be more entertaining for someone to tell you how they ate a Kangaroo pennis and it was disgusting than if someone who had no sense of taste at all told you he'd eaten a slice of bread. The bland food that is tasteless is just outright forgettable though and you'd only be eating because it was required. Mr Freeze is a terrible villain but he's at least fun to watch and make fun of because of all his cheesy ice puns. Malekith may not have those same kind of cheesy lines...but you don't really remember anything he said period.

I don't know why they centered a Justice League movie around Steppenwolf, anyway. That's like centering one around Bob the Goon.

Not even Malekith? Oh good lord, he must be bad then. I didn't think Malekith was bad. While he was boring, at least he did feel like a true threat to the universe and had understandable motives, resetting the universe to give his people a second chance. Malekith I'd say was just average, another generic bad guy there to cause trouble for the heroes. With Steppenwolf, the consensus seems that he's got absolutely no real personality or motives whatsoever and that he never feels like a credible threat to begin with. Not good.

That's actually shocking. Based on the trailers, I thought he was going to be a villain who actually does stuff and is involved in the action. But he's still horrible apparently. Well if Joanna Robinson says so then it MUST be true! I didn't realize Joanna Robinson was going to chime in! Now that Joanna Robinson says so we should all go out into the world and ruin every reel of JL that exists! After all, when Joanna Robinson speaks its from gods mouth! First theres god, then theres Joanna Robinson! #allpraisejoannarobinsonpurveyoroftruth
I'm not up on any "famous" twitters or bloggers or youtubers or the like, but I'm sensing sarcasm in your post. Are you insinuating Joanna Robinson is NOT a highly regarded film critic?

I'd really love to hear how he's worse than lex luthor. Mr. Freeze isn't better just because you remember how shitty he was. Lex Luthor at least had a personality and did something of actual interest, he sort of stood out in the movie. He was a terrible villain portrayed in a downright awful and unfaithful way but at least that in itself is interesting to talk about. Malekith is like a dry wall. He didn't look interesting, he didn't say anything, interesting(hardly even spoke English), his performance was as bland as you could possibly get, his backstory wasn't interesting, nothing he did in the movie was interesting, his abilities weren't interesting, his motivations weren't interesting, There was nothing about him that was memorable in any way, he wasn't even the one who killed Frigga. They couldn't have made a more bland and forgettable villain if they tried and the MCU is known for having quiet a few but no they aren't nearly as bad. The comparison by whoever this woman makes sense because if Malekith is known for anything it's being a terrible villain. Lex had a shitty personality and he did things that made no sense. Malekith was straight forward but at least he had goals and made sense. I thought he looked interesting. And his backstory was pretty cool with him viewing all of the universe as an invasive species to the reality he knows. If he was a native American you'd actually might view him as the good guy.
If there was nothing memorable about him, then why are we talking about him and specific things he did?
And you always bring up this memorable aspect. The holocaust was memorable. I'm not sure that beats an average forgettable birthday though.

Hey so we were discussing whether JL's 54 metacritic score made it better or worse than the worst MCU film, but I just saw the metacritic is now 47 for Justice League. OH MY GOD THIS THREAD HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH METACRITIC AND YOU KEEP TALKING ABOUT IT. GIVE IT UP IT IS MEANINGLESS AND WILL NEVER BE ANYTHING BUT MEANINGLESS. Oh yeah Steppenwolf. Sorry, I'm constantly getting 8 replies at a time. I'm wondering why the CGI is so bad on him, or why he's even CG at all.

Then again I had no clue who Steppenwolf was before it was announced he was in this movie. He's like Darkseid's uncle or something of the sort right? So my assumption is they're simply using him as a speed bump to get to Darkseid so him coming off badly wouldn't be much of a surprise at all to me.

If you believe that you've never seen a comic book movie before.
He was clearly the calm before Darkseid.
