Howdy, DC-Fan! Yes, indeed; my apologies for misrepresenting your thoughts on the matter, though I also don't think it's quite the kind of movie for an Oscar nod either. Though I'm not all that familiar with Connie Nielsen's work, I am familiar with Robin Wright's, and I still had trouble telling them apart. So be it. Capisco. I certainly know when World War I took place (and am happy that a mainstream movie referred to it, when it is far outweighed by its successor). What I mean is not "what happened to them in the long run?" but rather "what happened to them after that final scene in London, when they and Diana see Steve's picture?" It would not be such a big deal if the filmmakers hadn't spent so much time building them up, but they did, and then these great characters are simply dropped. I found that more than a little annoying; these were, as you say, very likeable, even lovable, characters. Hey, I liked The First Avenger! (And Wonder Woman borrows a great deal of material both from it and from Johnston's earlier [and, in my opinion, superior] Rocketeer.) I will say that WW does spend more time building the side characters up, while Captain America focuses more on the connection between Cap and Peggy on one hand and Cap and Bucky on the other.

Agree--and she was still really hot in that mediocre movie Keeping Up With The Jones also She was the best thing about that movie. Probably the only good thing in the movie. Nope. Lots of good things in this movie. Lots. You're going to ask what. Here's my response: imdb2.freeforums.net/thread/70242/review-justice-league-spoilers

But it's going to take more than just boobs to make a girl extremely hot or have sexual appeal.

I'm reminded of another point I neglected to mention in my aforementioned thoughts on Wonder Woman. DC-Fan and I (and several others) were discussing mythology in another thread, and--as an addendum to that-- Wonder Woman did make a bit of a mess of Greek mythology there. The biggest caveat is that it tried to view classical mythology through a Christian lens, with Zeus interpreted as God and Ares as Lucifer, falling from grace and becoming the Devil. Ares was not an evil deity in mythology, and--indeed--though the Greeks interpreted him as rather bloodthirsty (though also cowardly and certainly not villainous), the Romans saw him (under the name of Mars) as one of the greatest gods, the patron of Rome (being that Romulus and Remus, who in mythology founded the city, are his twin sons). And, as mentioned in that earlier discussion, the Amazons were actually villainous, certainly with regard to Heracles. Just some caveats I should get out of the way--oh, and the gods can't die in Greek mythology (they can in the Norse). Somewhat surprised that they had all the gods dead before the plot even begins, but--ehh--I'm not too worked up about mythological changes, as I accept that there will be changes for storytelling purposes, and it's only based on mythology, not necessarily a loyal adaptation. Still, I just wanted to set the record straight here after our previous discussion about Norse mythology.

the Romans saw him (under the name of Mars) as one of the greatest gods, Its not surprising that the Romans saw the God of War as 1 of the greatest gods since the Romans were conquerors and honored great Generals (like Julius Caesar). Also, the Romans were pretty bloodthirsty. The favorite "sport" of Romans was watching gladiators fight in the Colosseum.

All societies are, more or less, and the Romans went through different periods as any other society in antiquity. Mars was not half as bloodthirsty as his Greek counterpart; he was also the god of fairness and fair play, and sought to avoid bloodshed. One of the major differences between the two mythological systems.
