Rum and whisky and other beverage tasting today. The only heavy alcohol that I like turns out to be rum. I didn't know. And why does whisky taste so heavy? The best whisky actually came from Japan.
Then there was that absolutely delicious porto for β¬130. Superb. If you can afford it. It goes down like water. Great.

Rum is for people looking to commit suicide...it is a sugar based product and should be eschewed by responsible drunks...:-)

That is not the impression I had. Very cultivated, very sophisticated.
It was so good. I had great amounts and I am pretty sober and my stomach feels fine, And the latter is saying something.
I think it depends on the products. What I had was excellent.

When I was in Barbados--dear God, that was all they drank! (And because of that I certainly know Mount Gay, nutsberryfarm π.) Unfortunately for me when I was there, I was never that fond of the stuff--indeed, I can't even take it in a rum swizzle, let alone by itself!

There was no Barbados rum from what I recall. Mauritius, Dom Republic, Germany and some others. It wasn't heavy at all.
And I am not sure whether I would drink it with water. It would water and ruin the taste.

Oh, that brand is very good, nutsberryfarm π. There was a friend of mine, a padre, who loved the stuff; we met because he couldn't figure out how to get the cap off! (It was fairly simple, but there was another brand that needed a bottle opener.)

They also had other rums, but I cannot find which ones. And I tried some whisky. I am not much of a whisky drinker. Did you know Japan makes excellent whisky? I liked this one a lot. Very soft and mild, but I am a snowflake when it Comes to Whiskys: Many liked this one, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste: And some liked this, I don't know which one, though:

Hibiki 17 and some of the Nikkas coming out the past few years are just divine.
