I never understood why people like Vidya Balan. Kahaani, paa are the two main reasons. Specially for the movie kahani she entered the A list for a couple of years.

I never understood why people like Vidya Balan. Well, she did manage to shine in some good movies (by Bollywood standards). She did manage to do a range of movies and land several author backed roles. She was probably well loved by the average Indian woman who despised Deepika, Priyanka, katrina and kareena for their physical perfection, their propensity to be in "item songs" and their lack of acting skills (in comparison). The only time Vidya got to doing "item songs" in The Dirtty Picture, she was sort of mocking them and mocking the whole genre. Which is why they pardoned her immediately. Bottomline: "aunties sympathize with aunties".
