I don't think in general it's outdated or silly but certain specific heroes having them long term has become silly, or at the very least needs addressing.
Any hero who doesn't mask up needs a reason their secret identity works, Superman can have alien tech that alters his appearance when filmed when he's Superman, people may say oh you look like him but when a facial recognition scan shows various difference between photo's it's easy enough to explain that he simple resembles him in a strong way, Wonder Woman you can say her tiara is mystical and does something similar to those who do not who she truly is, or in both cases let them not need to hide who they are.

Does the world know Banner is Hull? Ant-Man? The world doesn't seem to know Strange exists Spiderman? Hawkeye? scarlet Witch? Pretty sure the world does indeed know Banner’s identity in the MCU. Also, since when have Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch ever been established as having secret identities? I’m pretty sure the world already knew that Witch’s name is Wanda Maximoff. I thought just the Avengers knew

I’m pretty sure the world already knew that Witch’s name is Wanda Maximoff. I thought just the Avengers knew It was mentioned that the world was calling for Bruce’s arrest after the Hulk’s rampage in AoU, and there has been zero indication that Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch are operating under secret identities.

The name Wanda Maximoff was mentioned numerous times in the news during Civil War.

The name Wanda Maximoff was mentioned numerous times in the news during Civil War. Yes, but, did they say "She's the one in the red jacket."?

I like the trope, people might think it's dumb, but I like it. It’s a little funny how for all the praise the MCU gets for embracing the source material, they’re generally pretty averse to the secret identity trope. The whole “I am Iron Man” thing at the end of the first movie felt like it was essentially giving the finger to the idea of secret identities. I would rather they didn't do that. I like Stark having a secret identity.

But there is no reason for the public to know scarlet witch As far as I remember, nobody actually ever called her Scarlet Witch. She's always been called Wanda and everyone who knows Wanda knows she's part of the Avengers. Like I said, no secret identities or in this case, not even a dual identity. Same can be said of Hawkeye whom I don't recall ever getting called Hawkeye.
