This can also serve as a thread for The Golden Palace, Empty Nests, and Nurses as they all spun off from The Golden Girls. Let's cut a slice of cheesecake and talk about our favorite characters and episodes. empty nest and nurses spun off from golden girls? i did not know that. golden palace was my show though. cheech was on it too.

That's correct rateater - the connection to the " Empty Nest " show Dr. Harry Weston and his daughters Carol and Barbara were next door neighbors to the golden girls .

Yes! Bea was the best. Her comedic timing and double takes were perfect. I do think she was the funniest and had the best lines.

You know, I never can get into TGG but a few yrs back, caught the entire Golden Palace and was addicted to it. Absolutely LOVED it! I guess Bea Arthur ruins it for me, dunno? I think you are the only person that liked The Golden Palace more than the original D: D: D: I liked TGP, but without Bea Arthur it just didn't work for me. She was my favorite of the main actresses. I guess I can relate to Dorothy a lot. I thought TGP was funny too. That's where I first saw Don Cheadle who went on to be a successful actor.

I watched it when it was on too, but I guess many people must not have considering it only lasted 1 season. The episodes used to be on YouTube but I think they have long ago been taken down

I love The Golden Girls. Still watch reruns. I took a quiz once, to see which Golden Girl you are. I was hoping I would get Dorothy because she's so witty and smart. Or Rose because she's sweet and innocent. Or even Sophia because she's hilarious and takes no crap. Wouldn't you know I got that slut Blanche! Lol! All the ladies did such an amazing job in their roles. I've always loved Bea Arthur, though, from back in her Maude days.

Actually they did show Blanche's husband - George in a couple of episodes especially the one you mentioned here called - " Mrs. George Devereaux " from season 6 episode 9 . It was the dream episode with the side story of Dorthy being wooed over by both actors Sonny Bono and Lyle Waggoner . Thanks so much Daisy for mentioning this episode too . Oh yes! That was a great episode!! Now I want to give it a rewatch. Thanks to you for telling me which one it was. You're most welcome Daisy . I'm so glad I was able to help you with this too . I agree that was a great episode and I never tire of that one either - loved the ending too . Again thanks so much Daisy for your reply .

I remember Dorothy shouting that at Rose. Hilarious! 😂 As for the subforum, I'm not sure how that's determined. I think you have to make a suggestion at Suggestion Box. The admin seems to set them up as quickly as he can get to them. Thanks so much again Daisy for the " Suggestion Box Link " here . I just went on the thread for - " How does this compare to IMDB's board so far? " and I'm really loving this new IMDB Boards site as I said in a nutshell there .

Golden Girls is one of those shows that I can't quite explain, but it's like this time warp silly indulgence. While not something I'd normally watch, I do consider it a bit of a guilty pleasure. The writing and acting are superb. What a cast!! I think I liked Dorothy, Rose and Sophia the best. What a combination!

I also though Herb Edelman as Stanley was pretty funny too. The character was a slimebag but he had his moments. There was an episode where the character Sophia was near death and Stanley was at the hospital keep Dorothy calm and providing her with emotional support. It was an excellent episode.

Oh yeah that's right brandomarlon2003 - " Stan Stan the Novelty Man " . Herb Edelman he was quite a versatile actor indeed he is so missed . I agree that was a really good Golden Girls episode - only I forgot what it was called or what season it was from . Thanks brandomarlon2003 for the reminder here .

IMPO - This sitcom did deserve to get awards that it did along with - Night Court and Frasier .

The Golden Girls are like no calorie comfort food. But you know, as much as I liked the show, I have no favorite episode of it. No episode really stands out for me as being particularly good or bad. I feel differently. IMO, the best episode was "The Case of the Libertine Belle" and the worst one was "You Gotta Have Hope". I also hate the episodes with Stan Zbornak, especially those near the end of the series.
