Eh, I'm not sure if that's a good fit.

this is a tough one. i used to really want a new heman live action. but these days it's probably not worth it. also i think it's getting too late for one.

It's not that it's Goyer. It just doesn't seem to even fit the genres I'd expect him to be attached to-;which are superheroes and dark fantasy.

Yey, another reboot that no one will like Nah, I think if done right, people would receive it well. That's all the more dubious now.

IN TALKS!!! IN TALKS!!! IT SAYS HE'S ONLY IN TALKS!!! saying this: "David S. Goyer To Direct Sony's Masters Of The Universe film" is tantamount to a lie!

Masters of the Universe is too corny a property to be made into a serious film. Have any of you seen the cartoon recently? Its awful! It's gonna suck no mater what. They'd have to change it drastically to make it remotely good, and then people will complain that its not Masters of the Universe. It's a no win situation, imo.

It doesn't have to be the 80s cartoon necessarily. The 2002 series was pretty good. My guess is that they'll treat it like a superhero property since there is a comic book series.

The 2002 was better, yes. And the comic book that is out now downplays some of the "corn". But ultimately its still too rife with childish things. There's a dude called He-Man in it for crying out loud. It has a talking cat that the guy can ride. And don't get me started on Orko. Plus, why's it called Masters of the Universe anyway? None of them are masters of anything, much less the entire universe. He-Man would end multiple episodes by throwing his enemy into the distance over a mountain range! It was great when we were kids, but now... its just too much. lol

You keep saying things like too childish or too much – don't you watch comic book movies?

Yes, I watch comic book movies and the modern day ones know how to gloss over the more corny elements of their comic book stories; which in turn has been reflected in the comics themselves by the way.
But there's only so much you can do with a guy called HE-MAN. The movie CAN be made, but some fairly drastic changes would have to be made to make it believable or acceptable to a modern adult audience (adult because they're the ones who "pay"). And like I said before, if you change too much then the audience will complain about that. Whoever takes it on is taking on a no win scenario.
However, if Peter Jackson or Steven Spielberg was doing it I might be more willing to take it seriously.

And everyone knows those can never be wrong.

"And this is Gringer, my fearless friend."
In the right hands any story can be made good and taken seriously.
It has more to do with the seriousness and professionalism of the filmmakers, not the audience.
He-Man has a silly name but that's irrelevant. If a guy in a bat costume can be taken seriously, so can a shirtless blonde guy who has a talking cat. It's the filmmakers who have to make the audience take it seriously.
And Langella made Skeletor into Richard the III so anything is possible.
