I like to read the advice columnists on line (Dear Abby, Ask Amy, etc.), and at this time of year there are always letters regarding families, gifts, etc. Quite depressing.
And then, there is the "Calvin & Hobbes" comic, where all Calvin can think of is the "loot" he expects to receive at Christmas. Yeah, it's only a comic strip, but it does reflect on aspects of real life.

SAD Seasonal Affective Disorder Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that's related to changes in seasons — SAD begins and ends at about the same times every year. If you're like most people with SAD, your symptoms start in the fall and continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody. Less often, SAD causes depression in the spring or early summer. Treatment for SAD may include light therapy (phototherapy), medications and psychotherapy.
This happens to coincide with the "Holiday Season" and adds to the difficulties of those with BHS (Bah, Humbug Syndrome, snsurone

To tell the truth, I get more depressed in summer than winter. It has nothing to do with the hours of daytime, as I get NO daylight in my apartment (my window faces an air shaft, and another building blocks the light). I do try to compensate by using full-spectrum LED light bulbs.
However, I just loathe summer's heat and humidity, not to mention the damned mosquitoes that would eat me alive if I didn't use repellent. And as I mentioned in an earlier post, crime and violence rises in the summer, just as it does during the Christmas season.
But thanks anyway for the "Calvin & Hobbes" comics. I hope you understand that the only affection that poor kid receives is from his imaginary stuffed tiger.

That is perhaps one of the saddest posts you have ever written, snsurone.

Y'know, Bat--you're really a stupid jerk! I don't know why I even bother to answer your idiotic posts! Why don't you do yourself a favor by taking a long walk off a short pier??? ok, then. In the long run, it's easier than trying to explain humor to someone who has no sense of same. This one in Clevedon, England is pretty long but I guess it'll do.
