So I just started buying these. I bought a Roland Deschain from the Dark Tower movie and The Crow. I like them, but I'm trying to understand their appeal. Why do people buy them?

...I own a Teflon statue (hand painted) of the Gary Oldman character from Bram Stoker's Dracula film from the late 1990's...I have no idea why this appealed to me, but I still own it...
I also own 5 Hartland statues from the 1950's including the original boxes. Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Eddie Mathews, and Yogi Berra with his mask...

I’m glad I found this thread. I came here to post a new thread about those Pop figurines and I see this, so now I don’t have to.
I don’t get their appeal. I guess if one were to get sucked in to the craze they’d be considered a cash cow to the company because you feel like you’d have to get every one as there are so many of them to collect.

Funko Pops are the beanie babies of this time. We buy them because they're cute and look good scattered around the house or work. They just blend into an environment well. I know people who have hundreds or thousands of them. I just buy them when they catch my eye and think they look particularly cool. I have a Bride of Frankenstein, Shaun from Shaun of the Dead, Groot, Black Philip from The Witch, Daenyras, a porg, and just bought a Post Malone pop. I just thought it was hilarious that he was holding a cup of beer and a cigarette.

I don't get it. How some of these cost hundreds of dollars for a mini-figurine is absurd to me.
