It's not making a shit-ton of money in the sense that TFA was, but it's still making a shit-ton of money.

It's not making a shit-ton of money in the sense that TFA was, but it's still making a shit-ton of money. TFA was the first Star Wars movie in 10 years. There was never any chance that this movie would make the kind of money TFA did. The Empire Strikes back made less money than Star Wars.

That's because all the people that put off seeing Jumanji to see TLJ are now going to see Jumanji. BTW Jumanji is a very entertaining movie.

It's now passed the billion mark, $1.007 billion.
That includes the overseas figure as of the 31st but the domestic gross is as of the 28th.
So if the earlier estimate holds true then it should really be around $1.06 billion by now. So a tad over half what TFA made.

Still waiting for the Chinese release. That will probably add another $100m at least.

It’s doing fine. It was never goin to match TFA, but it’s outpacing Rogue One.

And it is outpacing Rogue One. It was never going to make as much as TFA because that was the first Star Wars movie in 10 years. So what's your point?

Well if you think about The Phantom Menace made $925 million back in 1999 after a vast amount of hype.
Then Attack of the Clones saw a significant drop off making $640 million or about 69-70% as much.
So if this movie makes $1.4 billion then it would a comparable drop off.
Everyone knew it was gonna drop big.

Obviously it wasn't going to reach TFA numbers. I never said otherwise.

There was never any chance that this movie would make the kind of money TFA did. The Empire Strikes back made less money than Star Wars. WRONG--Disney expected TLJ to still make $2 Billion at the box office, just like TFA, but Disney really blew it with this mediocre film--TFA has 88% score on RT Audience, but TLJ is at only 52%!--Still a big hit because, you know, Star Wars, big space battles etc but the audience has voted TLJ the worst Star Wars movie ever made
